The score, l'ltt Syracuse O. tells how the Pitt boys fairly made tho local giants look like fondled pets. The Pitt team was Itself again, and the whole team was organized for its opponents with such cohesion that there was nothing to stop H.

The interference was. perfect and the old running attack of Coach Warner proved that no matter how well another team might play, his charges can beat them. There was nothing used throughout the game by the Pitt players but straight football. They employed the run from kick formation, the crisscross, the off-tackle play and line bucks. Every one of these varieties, supported by irresistible interference, produced the gain when it was wanted, and the showing made by Pittsburg is bound to rank it among the high liners in college circles.

The whole team was engaged in the defeat of the foe which a few days ago was the favorite to the tune of 10 to 6 In the betting. HASTINGS A PITT STAR. The whole team was on its feet and when they first got possession of the ball in the first quarter the Pitt players inarched down the field, ploughing through the heavy Orange line, piercing the tackles and guards, circling the ends and proving that the drive could not be stopped. They were a scared combination, it is true, but they played like fiends They were out for blood, and they got what they wanted. The smoothness with which the combination operated was remarkable.

Every man was in his play, ready to take out his opponent or stop him if he carried the ball. Never was the Pitt goal threatened. The Syracuse team could not decipher its opponents. The Pitt men were hideous "tanks" to them, and there was no offense or defense that could throw itself against them. Surging down the field, with never a fumble to mar the perfection with which everything coordinated, Pitt overcame, trampled and annihilated the local representatives.

Hastings was a. star at left halfback. He played a wonderful game on both offense and defense. He followed his interference cleverly and squirmed and serpentined whenever he wished to evade a tackier. He would have covered almost the distance of the field on one occasion had he not fallen when he attempted to sidestep Jleehan, the Orange quarterback.

SYRACUSE WEIGHT MELTS. On the defense he was alert to every play -and if any-Syracuse men broke through the line or received a forward pass, he was there to grab them before an advance was made. On one occasion he grabbed the ball from the air on an attempted forward pass by his opponents and prevented their becoming dangerous-near his own goal. Pat Herron. the Monessen youth, distinguished himself at right end.

He intercepted two forward passes, ran up the field for substantial gains, was active on defense and shone out among his He rollowed the ball with clocklike regularity and stirred the local rooters- to applaud his spectacular defense on the. aerial football of Hollenback. Jimmy DeHart was girded with speed. Calling the signals and acting as field general, he proved himself to be one of the real players of the Pitt- aggregation. He skirted' the ends and ploughed through the line, tearing off gains of from 10 to 30 yards like a demon.

A touchdown resulted from rapid fire smashes in the first quarter and McLaren was sent over the line. Hastings kicked goal. Two intercepted forward passes forced Syracuse to punt and an interchange gave the visitors-the best of the play. The quarter ended with the ball in Syracuse's possession with a touchdown in sight. In the second period, five straight smashes after Pittsburg had taken the ball on a punt put over another touchdown.

Hastings missed his try for goal, but came through with a field goal a few moments later from the 23-yard line.
