SEYMOUR marriage Sunday evening at the Mrs. Eigles is the former Miss Miss Shirley Mae Maxeiner Weds in Brighton Church Bouquets of white chrysanthemums, backed by palms and ferns and tapers In candelabra formed the setting in the Brighton Evangelical and Reformed Church at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday evening for the candlelight wedding Miss Shirley Mae Maxeiner and Pvt. Harvey Hersal Lyerla.

The Rev. O. W. Heggemeier of Alton received the vows of the couple, using the douhle ring service and the bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Albert Maxeiner of Brighton, was given in marriage by her father. As the wedding guests were escorted to their seats by the ushers, Elmer Schmidt, cousin of the bridegroom, and Charles Burk brother-in-law of the bride, Mrs. Clarice Ferguson of Alton, organist, played "Claire de Lune." "With This Ring I Thee Wed," "At Dawning," "Give Me Your Hand," Love You Truly" and "Intermezzo." The traditional wedding marches were played for the bridal party. Mrs. Ferguson served as accompanist for Mrs.

Alberta Storm Kennedy of Godfrey, AS she sang "Oh Promise Me" and "Because" before the ceremony. As a benediction, bridal couple knelt at the altar, Mrs. Kennedy sang "The Lord's Prayer." The bride, who WAS accompanied to the altar by her ther, was attended by Mrs. neth Wolf of Bunker Hill, sistor of the bride, as Mrs. matron Junior of honor, and by Hermes of Alton, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid.

Keith Wayne Maxeiner, brother of the bride, was ring-bearer. Junior Hermes, brother-inlaw of the bridegroom, was best man and Kenneth E. Maxeiner, brother of the bride, was groomsman. bridal gown of imported Chantilly lace, net and nylon tulle was fashioned over taffeta and extended by a hoop. The fitted lace bodice was completed with an illusion yoke and Peter Pan collar, and the long, button trimmed lace sleeves, were pointed over the hands.

The full skirt of net lengthened into a long sweeping train and enhanced by 8 Chantilly lace overskirt which cascaded to the hemline in the back. The bride's three quarter length lace trimmed veil of illusion was held secure by a seed pearl tiara. She carried a cascading bouquet of stanight roses centered with a deep purple orchid corsage, and an embroidered handkerchief helonging to her maternal grandmother, the late Mrs. Thula Lewis. The attendants' dresses were floor -touching extended by 8 hoop had sweetheart necklines and short puffed sleeves.

The matron of honor appeared in orchid marquisette and the bridesmaid in pastel green, with picture hats to match. They carried bouquets of citron yellow carnations in drop arrangement with ribbons to match their costumes. Following the wedding a rPception was held in the church social rooms. The refreshment table was centered by 8 threetiered wedding rake. topped with a minlature bride and groom.

Those who assisted in serving were Mrs. Charies Burk sister of the hride, Mrs. Kenneth: E. Maxeiner, sister-inlaw of the bride, Miss Virginia Lewis of St. Louis, cousin of the bride, and Mrs.

Earl Schmidt of Alton, cousin of the groom. Miss Bernice Kruse was in charge of the guest book. Mr. Lyerla and his bride left on a short wedding trip. For traveling Mrs.

Lyerla selected grey menswear dressmaker built with navy blue accessories. pinned the orchid from her bridal bouquet to the lapel o1 her su't. The bride is a graduate of the Brighton High School. Mr. l.yerla is a graduate of Alton High School and prior to enterIng service was employed at Godfrey Implement Company.

He will return to Indiantown ter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rhodes of Carrollton, and Orville D. son of Mr. and Mrs.

Orville' Lee Hacker of Jacksonville were married Tuesday evening at 6:30 o'clock in the Baptist parsonage, Carrollton, by Rev. Laurel Grigg. Attending the ceremony were Mrs. Alvadeen Reynolds and her daughter, Miss Jewel Reynolds. Following the ceremoy and Mrs.

Hacker left for Jacksonville where they will make their home Mr. Hacker is employed as a salesman by Meyers Jecksonville. Flemming-Wallace Wedding in Springfield Wilbert O. Flemming, son of Mr. and Mrs.

William Flemming of West Pearl street. Staunton, and Miss Patsy Wallace, daughter of Mrs. Ethel Wallace of Grafton, were ried at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternonn in Burnn Park Church of Christ, Springfield. The Rev. Luther E.

Perrin officiated, using the double ring service. Lester W. Arbuthnot of Alton, and Miss Alice Bradfisch, Grafton, were attendants for the couple. The bride appeared in A lace costume and her flowers were roses. A wedding breakfast WAS served ut the St.

Nicholas tel. Springfield, to the wedding party immediately following the ceremony. Tonight a reception will be held honoring the couple at the Grafton Coffee Shop. After a short honeymoon trip the couple will reside in Graf1on. The bride is a June graduate of Grafton High School and Mr.

Flemming is proprietor of An outboard motor repair, shop and 3 coffee shop Upper Grafton. Humboldt PTA Officers Meeting Last Night Officers and committee memhers of Humboldt School Parent-Teacher Association met Wednesday evening and plans were made for the 1951-1952 program. Mrs. Thomas Bailey presided. Plans were made for a mage sale, October 13, and card party November 7.

The first meeting of the PTA will be Tuesday evening, October 9, at 7:30 p. at the school. Eudy-Dowdy Marriage Made Known Announcement is being made of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Eudy which occurred at Curdie Heights Baptist Church, with the Rev.

Don McGill officiating, Monday, September 24. Mrs. Eudy is the former Miss Wanda Dowdy, a private first class in the Air Force, and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Dowdy, 2527 Oscar street Harry Hentz and Miss ginia Steffen were the couple's attendants.

Mr. Eudy, an employe of the Shell Oil Company, and bride plan to take up residence in Alton in the early winter. Pic. Eudy is leaving Saturday for Washington, D. where she is stationed.

She will receive her discharge in November. Miss Lora Freiman Honored at Shower Miss Lora Frelman, bride-tobe of Ray Bradshaw, was guest of honor at a shower Tuesday evening given by Golden Rod Camp, S95, Royal Neighbors of America at the RNA Hall in Grafton. The guest of honor is a charter member of the camp. Forty-eight guests attended and bouquets of fall flowers decorated the hall and yellow and white was the color scheme of the refreshment table. MISS RUEBLING Announcement is being made of the engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Irene Ruebling, daughter of Mrs.

Esther Ruebling, and the late Charles Ruebling, 209 East Twentieth street, to Donald Miller. The couple plan to wed October 27. The prospective groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miller, 3318 Fernwood avenue, is an employe of Owens-Illinois Glass Company.

Miss Ruebling is a clerk at Block'3 store on East Broadway. Jaycees Auxiliary Plan Membership Dinner Membership dinner and party is planned for October 16 by the Woman's Auxiliary to the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and will be held at Skaggs' restaurant. Plans are being completed by the committee with Mrs. Sidney S. Arst, chairman, and Mrs.

Irving Wiseman, Mrs. Andrew Schwartz, Mrs. Homer Adams, and Mrs. George Fries. Young Women's Club Entertains Guests Alton Young Women's Club entertained guests at a covered dish dinner and party Wednesday night at the Young Women's Christian Association.

Dinner was served at 7 o'clock and games and quizes occupied the evening, with Mrs. William Burt Kirby Slebenthal in charge. Prizes were awarded to those excelling. Later in the evening bridge and canasta were played and light refreshments served. Mrs.

John president, welcomed the guests and vited them to attend the next meeting of the club, October 10. White Shrine Party Wednesday Night Charter and noncommittee members of Apollos Shrine, White Shrine Jerusalem, were honored Wednesday night at a party held in connection with a stated meetIng of Apollos Shrine at the Masonic temple Wednesday night, and Mrs. Roy Fessler sang to the guests of honor after they were presented. Refreshments were served in the prettily decorated dining room. Mrs.

Ellis McReynolds, noble prophetess, and Ralph Ritchey, watchman of shepherds, will be guests of honor at a party to be given by Apollos Shrine October 24. Mrs. George S. Minor of Kenllworth, And Mrs. Frank Jaquith and Mrs.

Howard Allen of Evanston, al'e guests of Mrs. M. A. Reasoner, 410 Prospect street, arriving Wednesday for a several days' stay. Mrs.

Reasoner will entertain with 'a luncheon for her guests, former Alton women, Friday. Mrs. Milnor attended a meeting of the board of trustees, Monticello College, this afternoon. G)rard Mandorca, son of Mr. and Mrs.

William Mandorca of Dow, left September 20 to Join the Les Smithart band at Henderson, Ky. Bradley Millard, son of the Rev. and Mrs. George E. Millard, 540 East Sixth street, entered Illinois College.

He has been engaged as chapel organist for the college year. Miss Marion Slicker arrived In Alton, last night for a visit with her mother, Mrs. Bessie Slicker, 714 East Sixth street. Miss Slicker is assistant chief hostess of Pioneer Airlines of Texas, and she is stationed in Dallas. Mrs.

Howard W. Reynolds of 3417 College avenue is leaving Saturday for Maywood, to visit her son and de Cpl. Willam W. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds and become quainted with first grandchild, Christopher William, son of Cpl.

John L. Matthews and daughter, Donna Kay, and son, John Carter of 423 Foulds avenue, attended a banquet given Tuesday in Centralla, honoring Sister Elizabeth Kenny. Sister Kenny received a plaque from the citizens of Centralia in recognition of her work in the cause of poliomyelitis, and Mr. Matthews, WAS a victim of pollomyelitis while residing in Centralia, was invited to make the presentation. William H. Bauer, 1207 Callahan drive, a daughter, Mrs. Paul Klaasesz, and three grandchildren of Lancaster. Mr. fifand observed the tieth anniversary of their marriage five years ago.

Dr. Carl V. Plumb of 1200 Logan street is attending A seminar sponsored by the St. Louls, Hotel Soclety of Optometrists Sheraton, St. Louis.

The seminar opened this morning and will tend through Friday. Miss Mary Stamm Is Improving at her home, 1019 Garden street, Miss Stamm, an employe of the Dixie Shop in Wood River, was taken Ill last Wednesday and for several days was in a serious condillon. m. Wednesday in Christian Welfare Hospital, St. Louls. He weighed eight pounds and one ounce and has been given the name of Robert James. Mr.

and Mrs. Hoffman have three other children, John, 14, Charles, 10, and Carolyn, 4. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Krohn.
