Ashury Park The Department of State doesn't discour-ae tourist travel throuKh Central and South America and neither dues the American Automobile Association. A trip such as you describe involves considerable planning. You can get help from the AAA but you should net in touch with an office which can deal with world wide travel. Some cannot. A motorist can drive south as far as Panama, where the road ends.

There is a coastal route known as the Inter-American Highway, but the AAA recommends the inland route because it is shorter and better paved. The InterAmcrican Highway is paved except for a graveled section in the mountains of Costa Rica where paved roads are hard to maintain because of avalanches. Since the road ends at Chcpo, an inland city, tourists who want lo take their vehicles lo South America must arrange for passage by ferry or freighter at Panama City. There are other problems. Tourists must have a certificate lo take a vehicle through Central America, they must have an Inler-America driver's license, and they must have Mexican insurance.

These and other details can be worked out with the help of AAA which can also supply a copy of a South American lour guide. The AAA cautions against travel in low slung cars and recommends a vehicle with plenty of road clearance. You were helpful in recovering my lost watch, I am hoping you can help again. Where can I get information about taking a trip on the "Delta Queen," the last stern wheeler on the Mississippi River? Mrs. M.

Monmouth Beach The optician will replace the frame at no cost to you. When I got a toothache, I went to a new' dentist. He said the work required would cost $65. Later, when the work was completed, his nurse said I owed $75. My regular dentist never raises his price like that.

Mrs. K. W. Lakthurst The dentist says his nurse made a mistake in addition and that you don't owe the 10. While working in a store in Brick Township, I cut my finger on a meat slirer.

The district manager of the store chain said the company would pay the bill, but that was three months ago. The doctor has asked me to pay the $23 bill. Mrs. M. H.

Brick Township On being advised of your problem, the company's office got in touch with the district manager and says the bill now has been paid. If a New Jersey resident puts money in a savings account in New York City, does he have to pay tax to New York on the interest earned? J. Asbury Park There would be no tax due to New York City or New York State, says a spokesman for the New Jersey Division on Taxation. He says interest earned on an account held by a nonresident would not be subject to New York State's income tax or the city's earning tax. I am a young lady of 18 years and I am very interested in becoming a truck driver.

Could you please supply me with any and all Information or addresses as to the locations and such that accept women as students? R. R. One of the women, Mrs. Florence Gaffney, Wall Township, has driven trucks interstate, and the other two, Mrs.

Helen Haege and Mrs. Florence Lambertson, both of Ocean Township, have driven school buses interstate. A "local" driver generally unloads freight on delivery and loads freight picked up during the day, and a woman probably would be physically unable to do this. He says the employer must show that the woman is physically unable to do the job.
