As bury Park Nov. 4, 1982 D5 Scholastic Sports Report KBC9 Mater Dei set stage for Parochial showdown ONE THING is certain about the New Jersey Interscholastlc Athletic Association girls Parochial tennis championship next Tuesday: It will be won by a Shore area team. That much was made official at Mercer County Park, West Windsor Township, yesterday when undefeated Red Bank Catholic (21-0) and Mater Del (19-3) swept state honors in Parochial A and respectively to set up an all-Shore showdown next week, probably Tuesday at a site and time to be an- nounced. Red Bank Catholic's Caseys blanked Immaculate Heart, 54), In Parochial A and Mater Del swept "My first doubles wasn't there," noted McDermott. "They'll be there for this one.

Cuozzo posted a 64, 6-4 triumph over Diane Herdling and O'Brien stopped Kelly McLaughlin, 6-3, 6-1. Unbeaten Ridgewood (214) swept Middletown South in doubles to advance to the state Group IV final later this week. Sally Rielle and Allison Ross hooked up for a 6-2, 6-4 verdict over Tara Dorian and Kirsten Sneed in No.l doubles that put Ridgewood in front to stay and Diane Beard and Liz Geitner sealed the win with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph over Kelly Dorian and Nancy Gambuzza in No. 2 doubles. South's only point was provided by Karen Kouv-al, who whipped Diane Pursiano, 6-1, 6-4, in No.

2 singles. Chris Rehwinkle drew Michelle Morangi, 6-4, 14, in No. 1 singles. South's Eagles are 20-2. Tennis Pope John of Sparta Township, in Parochial B.

Tully opened the scoring at 7:18 of the first quarter, knocking in a comer kick from Jim Coman.

Tully scored again at 13:21 of the second quarter, off a cross from Rich Skowronski. Holmdel got a goal from Greg LoPrete at 2:44 of the third quarter and scored what appeared to be the tying goal midway through the fourth quarter. However, the officials disallowed it, ruling that the goal had been pushed in on a handball. Freehold outshot the Hornets on the game, 15-11. IN ANOTHER state tournament game, Monmouth advanced in Central Jersey Group play with a 7-1 victory over North Brunswick.

Wayne Hogarth led the Golden Falcons with three goals and Nicky Sacco added a goal and an assist. Goalie Don Lewis stopped five shots on goal, and Monmouth outshot North Brunswick, 16-7. Monmouth faces the winner of the Monroe Township-Lawrence Township game in the next round. IN REGULAR-SEASON games yesterday: Vinnie Maggio scored two goals and assisted on another as Middletown North blanked Marlboro, 3-0, in a Class A North matchup. Maggio, a senior, upped his season goal total to 26 and established a team record for goals in a season.

The former record of 25 goals was set by Maggio's brother, Paul, in 1978. Don Kelly and Matt Matusweski combined on the shutout. Mike Gulino and Jeff Barkledge converted third-quarter goals as Middletown South snapped a 1-1 tie en route to a 3-1 Class A North victory over Neptune. But Steinert's Spartans, who finished with a 13-10 shots-on-goal advantage, tied the game just 57 seconds into the third quarter and collected the win on Tessin's fourth-quarter strike. Paul Hamadyk drilled a pair of goals lifting Toms River South to a 34 non-conference win over Lacey last night. After a scoreless first quarter Hamadyk put the Indians on top at the 16:40 mark of the second quarter with Steve Miske assisting. Hamadyk made it 2-0 in the third quarter before Brian Schmidtz' completed the scoring with his first goal of the season.

Tom Brown recorded the shutout with 11 saves. Tony Vega scored three goals and assisted on another as Lakewood ended its season by blasting Pinelands, 7-0, in a non-conference game. The Piners, who finish the season at 7-11-2, struck twice in the first twe periods and blew things open with a three-goal outburst in the third quarter. Pinelands is 1-19. Powerful Kearny broke a 1-1 tie with five unanswered goals in the second half to whip Brick, 6-1, in a non-conference ame.

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS Academy clinched at least a tie for the boys Class A North title with a 16-47 win over Freehold Township yesterday, but Colt coach Tom Heath's mind was pre-occupied with the Catholic Track Conference championships Saturday in Elizabeth. "Delbarton won it last year, and we finished first the previous two years," Heath said. "We'd like to make it three out of four." The Colts will be heavily favored to do so, but should face some competition from North Jersey powerhouses Seton Hall Prep and Bergen Catholic. With many of the Colt regulars resting, Tim Ganley led the CBA charge with a 15:56 at Freehold Township.

Chris Deane Tim Carey, and Chris Ring filled the second, third and fourth spots for the Colts. Paul Pullen placed fifth for Freehold Township. The Green Wave will attempt to avenge their only loss of the dual meet season when they run against favored Madison-Central in the Central Jersey Group sectionals at Mercer County X-Country THE BATTLE of Class A South unbeat-ens turned into a "no contest" affair yesterday as Toms River East defeated Brick at home, 20-41, to successfully defend its Shore Conference Class A South girls' cross-country title.

Marcia Brownlee of Toms River East and Ocean County champion Karen Crosby of Brick waged a nip-and-tuck duel through most of the race, with Brownlee breaking the tape (and the old course record) in 20:11. Crosby finished three seconds under the old record with a second-place 20:17. Jean Mutone Dina Giacinti, Jeanine Sles, and Alison Lelblein filled the third, fourth, fifth and sixth spots to clinch the meet for the Raiders. Geraldine Ricciu-ti placed seventh for Brick. The two Ocean County rivals meet again Saturday at the New Jersey State Interscholastlc Athletic Association's South Jersey Group IV Sectional Championships at Camden County College.

Toms River East is favored to repeat as South Jersey Group IV champion, with Brick, Shawnee, and Cherry Hill East considered the top contenders. In the only other girl's meet of the day, Southern handed Brick Memorial a 25-31 defeat in Class A South. Donna Dougherty led the Rams with a first-place 20:15.
