Scores Two Touchdowns to One by Middies Williamson Works Hard DeHart Makes Long Run PITT ALERT ALL THE In the third period the Navy almost exactly duplicated this performance Overesch carried Mitchell's pass 22 yards to Pitt's line, and the former was bumped over for the Navy's only score. Mitchell's failure to dupli-cate Hastings goal frorA touchdown looked like a bad break until in the latter part of the same period tho visitors came through with another touchdown, which placed 1'iPt far In, the lead and practically out of dan- i ser of being overtaken. The circumstances of Pitt's second touchdown furnished a good demonstration of the constant alertness of the whole visiting team. It was on the occasion of a spurt on the part of Annapolis, Oct.

10. With an exhibition of all-around football strength, augmented by an ability to torn all tier opponent's errors to good account, the University of Pittsburg- eleven fully justified the fears of the Navy here this afternoon and came throngn a fiercely contested gridiron battle victorious by the decisive score of 13 to 0. Everything in the line of football offense wm given a place In the attack of the two contenders and though the penalties -were few and tell the tale of a clean contest, there was probably the Navy attack following fn ex-chancre of punts that the whole. I'eck, the fast cen-j ter man on the visiting team, leaped Into the air and snatching the ball above the mass of groping bands wiggled through the mixup and dashed across for the score that sewed up Pittsburg's victor-. The Navy attack showed splendid recuperative powers at several stages of tne game and encouraged by the wild shouts of the loyal midshipmen in the stands gave the visitors some severe scares. The fourth period came near se.einr the tally evened up. This period was mad rather monotonous by a persistent exchange of punts during the earlie- minutes of play. The Navy players seemed intent on wearing their rrtAM -i I tholp never a harder game staged on the Navy field than the one with the Penn-sylvanians today.

The advantage that the visiting- team aeemed to have In the weight of its linemen, was more than offset by the eize of the Navy backfield, which excluding- Mitchell at quarterback, averaged 185 pounds. Add to the matter of -weight, the Navy backfield showed a speed that was surprising in such big men and the power or tnls combination tested the defensive ability of the visitors' line to the breaking point at several stages of the contest but at every point when a stonewall was necessary to prevent a touchdown througn the line. At the line plunging ganm 'the heavy Navy backfield had ranch the better of the arsrnment, but tne fleeter Pitt backs time and again up the battle by lonr- end runs.

To Dehart of Pitt goes the credit or the longest run of the game, which was made around the Navys right end during the last period of play. He was one of the three first-ciass quarterbacks whom the visiting coach linen with'frequent changes as the play 'progressed. Two of the touchdowns of the day were the direct result of long forward passes.
