Slate Faces Contractor's Damage Suit TOMS RIVER The state Department of Transportation has been named defendant in a damage suit filed by a contracting concern which says it has cost it more than $4,500 to follow instructions from the state agency. The suit was filed by Ole Hansen and Sons Pleas-antville, contractors for part of the Route 72 dualizatlon project in Stafford Township. The corporation says it tore down two billboards owned by Stafford Township Mayor Wesley K. Bell which were in the right of way of the highway, after getting a written instruction to do so. But Mr.

Bell took the contractor to court, and on Oct. 30, 1970 Hansen agreed to a $4,500 out-of-court settlement. The suit asks the court to order the state agency to pay Hansen the amount of the settlement, plus legal and court costs.
