Fry and Hastings.

Star 1 mm 1 Whatever glory Is connected with a team that is walloped by the score of 90-0 goes to Palm, Puderbaugh, Kinley, Dalton and Wilson. The share of glory was so small, however, that each of the five men will be able to put his share in his change pocket without stretching the lining to any extent. Dickinson soon found out that they did not have a chance, but died game and made the Blue and Gold fight the way for everyone of their many scores. PITT USED MANY PLAYERS. Pitt made substitutions galore during the fray.

If every man who took part in the game yesterday was to get Ms letter, the athletic association would be bankrupt by the cost of the sweaters. However, the substitution game was the proper caper yesterday, as there was no need to run the legs off the regulars one week before the important battle of the year. The regulars probably dragged the Dickinson crew around Forbes Field for a total distance of several miles as it. was, and there was no need to keep a star working after he had plenty of exercise. The punting and all-around work of Fry, the new-found fullback of the 7S Pitt "uncovered" to some extent yesterday at Forbes Field with the result that they walloped the eleven representing Dickinson college by the overwhelming score of 0(1 to 0.

This great display of real football by the wearers of the Blue and Gold sent up their stock many points for the championship contest with W. J. next Saturday. It was the first real chance to compare the work of the Pitt team with that of the Red and Black, and it must be said that the local eleven compares quite favorably with that of Folwell, if the scores count for anything in this year of dope -upsets. Early in the season Dickinson visited Washington and lost to Wash -Jeff by the score of 105-O.

At that time the Furnitsre arid carpet manufacturers have not been so ANXIOUS to sell in years. 'WE NEED THE MONEY most of them said, i The biggest assortments ever offered at sale prices and the most astounding values. SPECIAL SALE TICKETS ON EVERY TRADE SALE VALUE. You can practically wait on yourself, picldnout the bargains that appeal to you strongest And your own easy terms will take care of everything you purchase local team, was the greatest treat of the day for the Pitt fans. If there was doubt in the minds of any as to who would start the game at full against the Red and Black, that doubt has removed as far as the east is from the west.

Mr. Kenneth 'Ted-" Fry will be on the job in the Wash-Jeff game until such time as he is physically unable to continue his duties. Hastings' broken field running was the best seen in Pisburg since Spiegel last visited the city. To watch 'Red' running up the field through the Dickinson one. would htink he was a hockey star dribbling the puck along the ice.

He would stop dead and cut out in another direction, while the Dickinson players were whirling around and grabbing at the atmosphere in the immediate vicinity of "Red's" last stopping place. This conclusion Is logical, and it is likely that when the two great teams of Western Pennsylvania clash next Saturday the contest will be much closer than the dopesters had figured until yesterday.

If attending matinees and otherwise having a good time, such as the Pitt players are reported to have done during the past week, will bring results such as that of Saturday, it would not be a bad idea for Coach Duff to buy tickets for his men for every good show in towu this week. Pitt had everything known to the football world in the game with Dickinson, and the same speed can only be maintained until after the battle with the Red and Black, the Washingtonians will have a very busy session next Saturday. Had the local aggregation played as fast ball during the first half of the contest yesterday as in the last two quarters they would have run up a much larger score than the lied and Black did against Dickinson. Pitt was slow to get started. PITT STARTED SLOWLY.

In the first period they were able to get but V.i points. They beat this mark by one in the second period, making the full count for the first half Zt. His judgment in handling the team, was all that could 25 $40.00 Quartered Oak Extension Tables be desired, while his general aggressiveness was a big feature of the victory. At one stage of the game he received the kick-off on his own JO-yard line and ran through the entire Dickinson eleven for a touchdown. Dickinson never had a chance to score, except on one occasion. At this point a visitor fumbled a pass with a clear field ahead of him.

The game was started by McWhin-ney kicking off for DicTtinson. He sent a short kick to Smith on the 45-yard line of Pitt. After see-sawing up and down the field for a time, Dickinson got the ball on the 35-yard line.

They failed to do much and punted. Pitt returned the punt and the Dickinson man was nailed on his own 10-yard line. Dickinson soon punted and Fry got the ball on the 17-yard line. Fry made first down after failing once at the line. Morrow took, the ball to the one-yard line.

Fry then went over for a touchdown. He kicked goaL Toward the last of the quarter a forward pass from Fry to Miller brought the second touchdown. Fry missed the goal. Dickinson had the ball in midfleld by reason of a fumble by Fry when the second quarter opened. Heck soon punted to Heil on 0-yard line, who ran to the :5.

Library Tables started the excitement by running back the kick 20 yards and' making a fair bid for getting through the Tech tacklers. On the next two tries Bethany couldn't gain and Elder punted to Kesner. The little quarter got 20 yards around the opponents' right end and then Balsinger, Parke and Marshall made four successive first downs, putting the ball on the 10-yard line, from where Kesner went through the line for the first score, within four minutes of play. Tech had another chance to score In a few minutes, as Bethany fumbled on their first play after the second kick-off, and Tech had the ball on Bethany's four yard line, but had to surrender It on downs. Elder punted to Kesner, who fumbled, the ball going to Bethany, who were Immediately held for downs on heir own 30 yard line.

Tech succeeded, with a forward pass and Kesner ded the remainder of the needed stance for the second touchdown. he local's third touchdown of the opening quarter came when Mar with extra large top. The Carnegie Tech-Bethany game yesterday at Teih field, which resulted in a victory for Tech, 3a to 19, proved to be one of the most interesting of the year. While the Plaid won by a comfortable margin, they had to fight all the way, and the husky and aggressive visitors never gave up hope.

Their fighting spirit was In evidence during the entire game and had it not been for the first period Tech would have suffered a defeat. It took the Bethany crowd a full quarter to get started. Their first touchdown came early in the second period and during this, as well as the next two quarters, they had Tech on even terms. The Bethany team is coached by Roberts, the former "Wisconsin star, who for three years played under Cat-lin, the All-American scholar of Coach Stagg of Chicago, who taught Walter Steffen, the Tech head coach his football knowledge. It was a case of west against west with both teams resorting to queer-looking formations and the cpen game at all stages.

Tech also added a score when Marshall wiggled through from the 2S yard line. Tech's final score came early in the last period when Kesner ran back Elder's punt for 7S yards. Tech kicked off to Bethany who gained 45 yards on a forward pass from Eider to Tylock, put-ting the ball on 15 yard line.

Tech wobbled on several occasions, and while Coach Steffen was away on a scouting trip, the entire team will no doubt hear from him in strong terms Monday.

The Tech defense did not show to the same advantage as In former games and there was a tendency to fumble at critical stages, even by steady little Kesner. PHIL. MARSHALL STARS. From a Tech standpoint the feature was the playing of Phil Marshall, the former I'eabody High who seems to have earned regular varsity berth, ilarshall was a tower of strength on both the offense and defense. He scored two touchdowns, one after a 57-yard run and made a tackle that saved a touchdown.

He was in the game every minute and put up by far the best play for the locals. Kesner made several stnsational rutls, one for 7s yards when he ran back a punt through the entire Bethany' defense. The little quarterback fumbled on several occasions. Captain McCaushey put up a. fine game, but was injured during the second half and had- to retire.

He was hurt when tackling Kodgers out of bounds. For the visitors Rodgers played sensational ball. He also engineered the visitors' forward passes; which on one occasion netted Bethany close to 50 yards. Rodgers was equally clever at circling the ends. In- fact, he was nearly the whole show for the visitors, although he was well backed up by Klder at fullback, Heyburn at tackle and Tylock at end.
