Joseph's co'lege. Joseph Kostohryz passed away at her home Wednesday, Jan 20, 1915. Funeral was held Friday at the Holy Trinity church, and the remains were laid at rest in the adjoining cemetery. Kev. J.

P. Broz, of Spillville officiated. The bereaved ones have our sympathy in their hour of sorrow. Fred Lukes autoed to Cresco Tuesday. Ludmila Hol.ub was the guest of her friend Nelly Mikesh several days of this week.

James Clubb left Tuesday for his home in Rockford, 111., after a couple of weeks visit at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Jameson Wm. Polashek was a Ciesco visitor Monday. Quite a number of our young folks were royally entertained Sunday evening at the home of Adolph Bust! and wife.

Henen Lukes and wife went to Alta Vista Saturday to visit their daughter, Mrs. James Kaderabek. The dance Wednesday evening was a success. 175 numbers were sold. The benefit goes to the Protivin brass band with which they will purchase band uniforms.

Mrs. J. Walenta and daughter, of Spillville visited Mrs. Thomas Jira Friday. Joseph Makovec, of Ipswich, S.

attended the funeral here of his sister, Mrs. Jos. Kostohryz. Eddie Zahasky left for Dubuque to attend St. Joseph's college.

Henry Novak and wife, of Schley, called on Protivin relatives Wednesday. Stephan Sberal and wifa, of Spillville, visited the latter's parents, Wenzel Novotny and wife Wednesday. A party was held at the James ZahasKy home Sunday evening. Again one of those popular dances will be held in Beseda opera house Tuesday evening, Feb. 2, 1915.

Music by P. B. orchestra. All are invited. Wedding bells will soon be ringing our city.

H. Dinger shipped a car load of cattle to Chicago last Sunday morning. Kelsey Potts drove to Maple Leaf Saturday atternoon to do some trad'ng. Frank Wacha made a business trip to Elma last Saturday. Gladys snd Lucile Bigley were visitors at the Stevenson home Sunday.

Libbie Souhrada called at the Graf home Saturday. John Kubichek called at Maple Leaf Sunday. Anna Frana and Anna Korbel were visitors at the Albert Frana home for a few days. The dance Saturday night at Fred Buresh's was well attended and all report a fine time. Joe Wacha and Frank Zak were Sunday evening callers at the Joe Shimek home.

Henry'Callahan was an Elma visitor one day last week. Quite a bunch of young folks from here attended the dance at the Harris home near Schley Friday night and enjoyed a fine time. F. Kakac is working for Thomas Kakac. Walter McKnight is visiting at the A.

J. Ritze home. Eisie Roman visited a day this week at the John Wacha home. Pat Stevenson is helping Mike Bigley haul hay these days. Frank man, Frank Kakac and Frank Biglejr called on George Bigley Sunday evening Mike and John Bronner's sale was wed attended and everything was sold at a very good price.

Mrs. Frank Fisher visited relatives and friends in Alta Vista last week. Will Conry called at the John Vokaty home Monday. Mrs. Frank Fisher visited with her parents Sunday.

Robert Vopava, assisting her in her various household duties. Albert Mzik and his folks were pleasant business callers at Cresco a few days last week. Next week Tuesday is ground hog day.

If the old fellow sees his shadow he will hibernate for six weeks longer, according to an old saying. Alfred Peter, had the Northern Iowa Telephone put into bis residence recently and mav now call up his friends and neighbors at leisure. Mr. Johnson, agent for Raleigh's remedies, was through here last week supplying his regular customers with goods in bis line. Rollie Kratz and his brother Deno were busy last week hauling cord woyd to the market at Cresco, while (he sleighing was good.

Reinhart Haakenson, wife and son departed for their home at Grand Rapids, the fore part of the week, after spending several weeks in this vicinity. Koch's folks were pleasantly enter tained at dinner by Robert Vopava md wife, of Sumner township the other Sunday. A P. Pecinovsky has been busy some time hauling sand from the mtr some of his neighbors assisting him a few days Thee. Kratz and Amel Koch were marketing hogs one day last week, some of the neighbors assisting.

They received top prices for them. A program consisting of dialogues, tableaus, pantomines, etc will be given by the pupils and teacher of sub-district No. 4 this week Friday evening. Everybody come and have a good time. Basket social will follow entertainment.

Be sure and get your share of the good things to eat. Fred Falck and wife, from north of Ridgeway were pleasant callers at the latter's parental home last week one day. Elsie Aegerter was listed among the sick tbe past week or so. Oscar Moe, wife and babe, of Ridgeway were entertained by Mr. and Mrs.

Rollie Kratz last Sunday afternoon. Tbe members of the W. M. S. of the Evangelical churah will meet with Mrs.

May Kratz, of week Wednesday. Albert Mzik was sawing wood the fore part of the week. Tbeo. Kratz and family spent last Sunday afternoon witb Rollie Kratz and wife west of Otter Creek. Bennie Mzik had to absent himself from school duties a few days this week on account of being on the sick list.

Louis Derr. Fred Ammsn delivered hogs at Cresco, Monday. A. Fosse autoed to Cresco, Sundsy afternoon, and from there took tbe evening passenger for Ridgeway to attend a family reunion there Monday. Henry Rethamel, with the assistance of some-of his neighbors, is delivering corn at Cresco these days.

Hooper delivered oats at Cresco, Monday and Tuesday. Mike Derr delivered corn at Cresco, Monday. J. W. Chitek made a business trip to Cresco, Saturday morning.

W. Nast's. Herbert Michel, of Washington spent Sunday evening at W. Nast's. Amanda Miller came home from St.

Paul Saturday, after a two week's visit witb relatives. John Bigalk and wi'e, Geo. Michel and family, Albert Bronner and family, Mike Bronner and family, Amil Keune and wife, Newton and Willie Bigalk, Carl Maehling, Herbert Michel, Andrew Michel, Martha Miller and Leona Bigalk spent Tueeday evening at C. W. Nast's.

Dsn Bronner and wife spent Sunday at H. Lange's at Granger. WEST VEKNDK Coughlin and children, and Mrs Leslie Sebsstain spent Friday noon with Mrs. Bouika. Hulda Roth was pleasantly entertained at the Peter boma Sunday.

Elsie Peter spent Sunday at Fred Fish and family visited with friends at Cresco Sunday. Mrs. Frank Miller spent Saturday and Sunday With Mrs. Barnes, of Cresco. Mrc.

Joseph Burnikel entertained company Saturday evening. Sorry to say tbat Ed. Bouska and Joe Burnikel are on the Sick list. Charley Eldridge visited his sister Mrs. F.

Fish and family part of the week. Charley Fish helped E. M. Eldridge get up last few days. We are glad to learn Mrs.

Wm. Reinbart is recovering so nicely from her operation. Henry Wilson has been marketing oats this week. A few from this vicinity attended the dance at Frank Harris's. All report a good time.

Wm. Shaffer and son Jim sawed wood Tuesday for E. M. Eldridge. Joe Miller and mother visited James Barnes and mother Saturday night and Sunday and attended church Sunday.

Robert Halpin and wife visited at John Daly's Sunday. Mrs. Henry Wilson and son called at Mrs. Crowe's Sunday. Frank Bouska made a business trip to F.

A. Miller's Monday. The Henry Wilson and Fred Fish families and the Crowe boys visited at Wm. Wooa's Tuesday evening. Mrs.

Wm. Slifka and children visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alois Schneider, one day this week. Fred Fish assisted Joe Lickteig drive cattle to town Monday.

ALBION. Albert Henke marketed a fine bunch of porkers, Monday. R. J. Peckham is spending a few days at the borne of his brother, E.

J. Some of our farmers are taking advantage of the good roads by hauling sand preparatory to building as soon as tbe weatner permits in the spring. Mrs. M. Henry returned to her home in Granger, Sunday, after spending a few days at the home of her son ill.

The Ladies Aid Society et the Henry home, last week Thursday, was well attended and all report a very enjoyable time. Mrs. N. C. Peckham is entertaining a brother from Ridgeway at this writing.

About six besd of cattle on the C. A. Wells farm having rushed into an alley on an upper floor of tbe barn accidentaly fell through a. trap door opening to the basement floor below, a distance of about eight feet. Fortunately only one was injured.

W. Daskum were over visitors at the Wm. Howard home in Orleans. Albert Ellingson and wife are visiting friends and relatives in this vicinity. Fred Brown and wife called at tbe C.

Oleson home Monday aiternoon. Phil Todd and wife spent Sunday evening at the Steve Todd home. Albert Bigalk of Albion was a business visitor in Kendallville Monday. AUon Daskam sawed wood Monday. Bernard' Davis was posting bills in this vicinity for a sale Jan.

Carrothers was a Decorah visitor Friday. Ida Jesvanger left Friday to spend Sunday with home folks. Her father passed away Saturday evening. Mrs. S.

Q. Ringeon and Margaret returned from Decorah Monday where they visited homefolks a few days, A Teacher's meeting will be held in Ridgeway at the public school on February 3rd. C. A. Fosse visited homefolks Mondsy and Tuesday of this week.

Linn Gordonier of Postville spent Sunday hero with his parents, P. L. Gordonier. CHESTER. There will be a lecture Friday eveii-S ing, Jan.

29th in the M. E. church by Mr Bishop, of AmeB college, subjeefe "The Making of Men and Women." It is to be illustrated by stereopticon. The lecture is given under the auspices of the ladies of the Tuesday club of Chester. All parents will be veiy much interested as Mr.

Bishop is a noted leader in junior work. He highly endorsed by the Womiu)'s Federation of Iowa. Bring your boys and girls as he has a rare treat in store for tbem. Harrison Cheney passed away on Thursday. The funeral was held in 4he M.
