innocent of all guilt, that I had made a trip to New York to see Miss Falkenburg; that our date had been changed and verified no less than three times; that my deadline was immediate and that I could hardly wander the city streets, scanning faces in the crowd, looking for a substitute interview; and that two sets of pictures had already been made up on Miss Falkenburg. At 2:40, one defeated public relations man and one defeated television writer waved a quiet goodbye to one defeated radio producer and tiptoed out of the studio. Still no Jinx. By mutual agreement, we settled on a Thursday, and I suggested a tentative time in the midafternoon. A day later, the public relations man telephoned to ask if I could meet Miss Falkenburg at 11:15 a.m. I explained that I would be free from noontime on and, although I had already made a date to lunch with friends and would prefer to see Miss Falkenburg about 3, I could cancel my lunch data and come earlier, if necessary. Agree en Time The date was agreeably set for 3 p.m. at the WOR studios at 1440 Broadway.

Came another phone call. There was a little misunderstanding. Miss Falkenburg has to do a recording of a radio show immediately after the Thursday radio show goes off the air at 3 p.m., so would it be possible for me to come to the studio at 1:30 instead of Teeth clenched, lid firmly closed on temper, I repeated: 1:30 Thursday, WOR, 1440 Broadway, Studio 6. So, on Thursday, I walked Into WOR at the precise dot of 1:30. A very pleasant young man named Barry Farber, the producer of the Tex and Jinx radio shows, was putting down the telephone as I walked in.

"Mrs. McManus?" He made It a question. I felt it was wise to say yes. Delay Requested "Jinx secretary just phoned. She'i tied up and she won't be port.
