"I feet good for the kids because they've worked real hard and are giving 100 percent to the baseball program," said South coach Ken Frank yesterday after the Indians defeated Jackson for the second time this season, taking a 4-3 eight-Inning thriller.

"But we still have seven league games left and it's a long season. Anthing can happen In this league," said Frank. "I've never seen a conference like this. Anyone seems capable of beating anyone else." Yesterday, junior Tony Grundhaser went the distance, allowing five hits, striking out nine and walking two. "Tony kept his composure through out the game and never put his head down even when Jackson went In front In the sixth inning," said Frank.

RBI doubles by Brian Evans and Brian Zedalls gave the Jaguars a 3-2 lead but Crundhauxer created the tying run in the last of the sixth inning when he stole third base and continued home on a throwing error. Then in the last of the eighth Miles Brueckner hammered a long bases-loaded single with none out to win the game. The drive to deep left field chasea nome sophomore Mike Jedziniak who had reached base when he was hit by a pitch. "I'm very proud of our team for being so aggressive and for the way we came said Frank. "We're carrying 14 ball players and each one Is contributing his fullest effort." Long Branch began the year losing its first four games, but has now won three of its last five. "I actually think we gained some confidence by playing Middletown South (a 34 loss) last Saturday," aid Weinsetln. "One of the things we found was that though we have a lot of juniors on the team, we thought we stayed with possibly the best team at the Shore for much of the game." John Perrl, former head baseball coach at St. Rose, has Joined the Wave's coaching staff. "He's our varsity pitching coach and is helping our kids quite a bit," said Weinstein.

Senior righthander Bill Malcolm evened his record at 2-2. "His development since March 1 has been considerable," said Weinstein. "He's keeping his pitches down a lot better than he was."
