Tax Bite Put On Wrong Party NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) The tax collector was barking up the wrong tree when he billed Curly Bonner $484 in school taxes for his property here. Curly is a dog and doesn't own any property. Curly's owner, James Bonner. had his miniture pincher's name listed in the local telephone directory in place of his own because he was tired of nuisance calls.

was going along fine." said Bonner, who said the nuisance calls ended. He was unconcerned when some third-class mail arrived for Curly. Then came the tax bill, assessing Curly for taxes on property valued at $3,500. Bonner conceded Curly might owe the county the $15 head tax for living in the borough but he couldn't explain how tax officials figured Curly owned the property. The local tax collector and county tax collector blame each other for putting the bite on the wrong party.
