met. Thursday evening at the home of Miss Rose Villapiano, 1103 Langford street. this city. for the study of Wagnerian opera. Miss Jane Cornish, circle chairman, gave an account of Wagner's life and composition.

Program notes were given by Miss Cornish. Miss Villapiano and Miss Jean Pisano. The following program of recordings was heard: 'Elsa's Dream." from Lohengrin' "Brunhilde's Song" from "Die "Immolation theme." from the Twilight of the Hall of from Tannhauser Love from "Tristan and sung by Kirsten Flagstad "In a Distant Land." from and Walther's "Prize Song" from "The Meistersinger." sung by Richard Crooks. were also heard. Miss Lucy Tompkins Addresses Red Cross (Special to The Press) BRIELLE- The executive committee of the Brielle branch of the American Red Cross met Thursday night in the boro hall with the chairman, A. Carpenter. in charge. Miss Lucy Tompkins, executive secretary of the Monmouth County chapter, spoke of the work by the Red Cross at home and abroad.

Elmer Pearce, production chairman. reported that since Jan. surgical dressing unit had completed 600 face masks: 17.400 two by two: 1.700 four by four: 20 army kits and 10 needle books: she also reported an average attendance of 33 workers a week. The chairman announced a meeting of the war fund canvassers 10- morrow in the boro hall at 3 p. when final plans will be made for the campaign.

Council Greets Five Members (Special to The Press) MANASQUAN- Warren G. Harding council, Daughters of America, Manasquan, received four candidates by initiation and one by reinstatement at the meeting Thursday evening in Red Men's hall. Mrs. Edith Stires was welcomed back to the council as the re-instated member. The new candidates were Mrs.

Alice Grant, Mrs. Veronica Fish, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson and Mrs. Caroline Davis. Mrs.

Elizabeth Wentworth presided during the ceremony. The floor work was performed under the direction of Mrs. Ella Oliver. captain. The regular business was conducted by the councilor.

Mrs. Reba Johnson. during which plans were made for presenting the "Traveling Member Ship" to Pride of Wall council. West Belmar. Feb.

(Special to The Press) POINT PLEASANT BEACH. "Problems of Modern Youth" was the subject of an address by the Very Rev. Frededick M. Adams. dean of Trinity church.

Trenton. at a meeting of the Point Pleasant Beach Parent Teacher association in the school auditorium Thursday. "Gay Nineties" Songs Featured At Trinity Choir Variety Show A variety show. featuring a number of songs the "gay nineties" given in costume, was presented last night in Trinity Episcopal church parish house. by the choir, under the direction of Miss Ethel M.

Leonard, organist and program chairman. The proceeds will be applied to new vestments for the choir. In the "Gay Nineties" number was Mrs. Frederick Hummel, general chairman of the entertainment, and soloist. with a supporting cast of Miss Miss Emma Willis.

Frommel Miss Vida and Willis, Dorothy Jeanne Covte. Their numbers were "Mary Is a Grand Old Name." "The Band Played "When You Wore a Tulip. and "Bicycle Built for Two." Mrs. Victor Kondrup was the accompanist. The costumes were characteristic of the period.

Another "hit" of the evening was the impersonation of "Grandma by Comdr. J. H. B. Herbert.

H. M. S. Asbury, who sang his composition with a chorus of men from the Apollo club. Commander Herbert also sang his own composition version of "Men of accompanied by Miss Leonard The chorus was composed of Joseph Yarnall.
