Garbage Trucks To Eliminate Noise Relief is In sight for light sleepers who are disturbed by the clatter of ladders dragged along streets from the rear of. garbage trucks.

Complaints from Irritated resi dents were recently reported by the City's Service Center. They were awakened by the dawn pa trol of garbage collectors. James J. Hughes, superinten dent of the City's refuse incinerator, said today that he Is seeking to eliminate the noise of the ladders hooked onto trucks. His workmen are salvaging old bicycle tires that are tossed on household rubbish heaps.

They are cut in short lengths and fastened on the tip-end of the ladders to stop the noise. These "noiseless" ladders have been allocated so far to trucks on the Squirrel Hill, Stanton Heights and Greenfield routes. Mr. Hughes has received suggestions from the public that the ladders be equipped with rubber-tired wheels, as well as rubber tips. of Ms) AOm COUNTER SERVICE From 8 a.
