died Friday night in Columbia Hospital after a six-week's illness. Born in Port Perry, he started JOHN L. THOMPSON Began career as office toy. to work as an office boy for Westinghouse in 1915. He became supervisor of the industrial relations department in 1944 and received his 35-year service pin while a patient in the hospital.

Mr. Thompson was a member of Beta Lodge, F. and A. Pennsylvania Consistory and Syria Temple. Surviving are his widow, Mrs.

Vivian Miller Thompson; mother, Mrs. Minnie Thompson; brother, Robert, of Wilkinsburg, and sister, Mrs. Vida Killingsworth, of Washington, D. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Mrs.

Deanie W. Meyer Mrs. Deanie W. Meyer, who came to this country when she was only 14, died yesterday. She was 80.

Mrs. Meyer first settled in Spring Hill district back in 1885 after migrating from Germany. She remained on the North Side until after the death of her husband, Frank Meyer. Recently she had been staying alternately with her three children in Beech view, BeEevue and Brownfield near Uniontown. It was at the home of her daughter, Irene, in Brownfield that she died.

She had been a rriember of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Beechview. In addition to Irene, she Is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Florence Heaton, Bellevue, and a son, Arthur of Beech-view. are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received this evening at the Beinhauer Mortuary, 2630 West Liberty where services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2:30.

Paul MINNEAPOLIS, July 21 (UP) Cloudbursts whipped by 100-mile-per-hour winds left 11 dead, scores injured, and millions of dollars of damage in Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota today. Minneapolis and St. Paul got the worst of the storm which struck without warning late last night. The worst thunderstorm in Twin City history caved buildings, smashed Air Force and Navy planes and swept lake wa ters over highways and streets. Family Drowns Cloudbursts which dumped as much as 8.3 inches of water on parts of Southern Minnesota and Wisconsin sent many streams out of their banks.

A flash flood in Viroqua, ripped a home off its foundations while a family of six was sleeping inside, and apparently all seven 'drowned. The bodies of Ernest Suiter and his daughter, Judy, 4, were found a mile downstream. Mrs. Suiter and three other children were believed to have died also. Many streams, including the Kickapoo River, were filled by the heavy rain.

Families fled from Soldier's Wis. A church at Newton, was swept away. Tornado Strikes Some 60 to 65 homes were inundated at Rochester, and residents evacuated. Streams were out of their banks in many spots. Watertown, S.

was struck by the edge of a tornado which cut off communication for ten hours and wrecked grain ready for harvest. Railroads had to reroute many trains in Southern Minnesota. The Minnesota National Guard, returning from training at Camp Ripley, was on some of the trains rerouted. Danish Firm Quits Iran, Sees More Trouble By North American Newspaper Alliance NEW YORK, July 21 The important Danish engineering firm of Kampmann, Kierulff and Sax-ild, which carried out various construction and engineering works in Iran totaling more than $200,000,000 is quitting the country as a result of the Teheran government's natio nalization campaign against the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. Politiken, an important Copen hagen daily, reports that the Danish company has managed to withdraw all its liquid assets in the anticipation of another round of confiscatory "nationalization" moves on the part of the Mossadegh regime.

Smock ruled all bids on them were too high.

He rejected bids on a stretch on Highway 88 between Pittsburgh and Bellevue, one of just over a mile on Routes 18 and 930 in Monaca, and over a mile and a half on Route 68 in Butler County. Bids were, accepted on seven other pieces of highway, five of them in this area. They included: Route 51, Patterson Twp Beaver County, a quarter mile of 24-foot black top surfacing; Rochester Coal Trucking and Contracting $31,935. National Pike, Washington 1.13 miles of black top surface, 30 to 40 feet wide; Black Top Paving $24,270. Route 80, Bell and Washington Westmoreland County, widen and black top 3.34 miles between Mamont and Alcorn; Burrell Construction and Supply $139,732.

Smock rejected low bids of $56,527 on the Route 88 job; on that in Beaver County, and $145,558 on that in Butler County. Money Talks In Numbers Case Police got combination evidence from a numbers suspect yesterday. They caught Nicholas Crapes, 26, of 602 Wylie with two crisp new one-dollar bills. Numbers, said Inspector Lawrence Maloney, were written all over the bills. Lt. Roy Schafer and his squad, who nabbed" Crapes at Sixth and Wylie, said the bills carried 56 numbers notations.

These bills were mixed in with a bankroll of $158, masquerading as ordinary money. City Red Cross Aids Disaster Victims The Red Cross Pittsburgh Chapter spent $2273.37 on disaster relief during the month of June. Joseph S.
