Busi: nesses and homes are telling everyone "Christmas is here." The Chamber of Commerce will be awarding three cash prizes in business and residential categories to several lucky entries.

Caroling is always a favorite activity for church and youth groups here around Christmas time. The Comfort 4-H Club held a hayride-caroling party recently, and the Confirmation classes of Immanuel Lutheran Church will be spreading their cheer and joy in this manner next Tuesday night. The church calendars are also filled with special services and programs at this special season. This weekend the St. Boniface Episcopal Church will host a Christmas party during the school beginning at 1 10 a.m.

for all area children. The Immanuel Lutheran Church will present their annual Christmas program Sunday evening at 7:30. Everyone is invited. The Catholic Church will have a youth Christmas party Sunday night at seven o'clock preceded by choir practice and the setting up of the crib scene. The Methodists will be having a candlelight service Sunday night beginning at seven o'clock with everyone invited.

The Comfort Independent School District teachers and students will Christmas- New Year vacation beginning Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Several special programs are planned including a puppet play in elementary and junior high, band concert for the student body, and skits and parties in the middle school, just to name a few. The Comfort High School band will present their concert for the community on Monday night at eight o'clock in the high school gym. The adults of the Comfort Baptist Church enjoyed a Scotch Christmas party Friday night in the home of Mr. and William Each member brought a wrapped white elephant, and numbers were drawn to receive a gift.

The refreshments were provided by everyone bringing a favorite party dish. Last Saturday morning the Comfort Chamber of Commerce honored their new 1980-81 members with a coffee reception at A Taste of Comfort Restaurant. Nearly a dozen new Comfort businesses were welcomed and honored. This same morning, right across the street, the Bandera Electric Cooperative held its open house. The open house gave a chance to view the new facilities.

The new branch office here is managed by Melvin L. Pankratz. The Comfort ISD office will be closed Dec. 24 and reopen begin enjoying their Jan. 5.
