REED. Excursion to Harrisburg July 10. Second Select Exoursion. An excellent opportunity is offered the citizens along the line of the Pennsylvania railroad to visit the wonderful outdoor spectacular exhibition, "Last Days of at Harrisburg on Saturday evening, July 19th. The railroad will sell round trip tickets on this occasion at single fare, and special trains will run for the convenience of the hundreds likely to improve this op.

portunity, The "Pompeii" exhibition is prov. ing a grand success, thousands attend. ing ench performance. Its wonders must be seen to be comprehended. It is simply indescribable, It covers more ground than four circuses the size of Barnum's; there are nearly 350 perfor.

mers correctly costumed as Roman Guards, Senators, Gladiators, citizens, and the scene depicts a holiday in Pompeii; at its close the volcano in the distant background erupts floods of Are and luva, earthquakes cause the build. ings to fall and fire completes their destruction. It is sublimely thrilling, and presents to our eyes a scene from the world's history-a calamity that befell Pompeli over 1800 years ago. Following this, thore is a $1,000 display of fireworks, pronounced by all to far exceed any display ever before witnessed in Pennsylvania. But a slight idea of this production can be gained from the fact that ten performances cost the city of Harrisburg over $20,000, There are good seats for 10,000 persons and the admission is only 50 cents for adults, 25 cents for children.

WASHINGTON, July 14. -There is only one thing certain about tho programme of the senate for the coming week and that is, that the sundry civil appropriation bill will be taken tip and, if poseible, disposed Before adjournment Saturday afternoon tho tariff bill was made the unfinished business of the senate, which makes it pretty cortain that that measure will be taken tp for discussion when the sundry, civil bill is out of the way.

But there is no certainty that the Democratic members of the senate will permit the sundry civil bill to be put through within tho week. It is genernlly recognized as fact that the Democratic policy in the sonato is to be one of delay until it is determined that The Fodorat Election Bill is to go over to the next session, or until thnt measure is passed. The caucus of Republican senators to be carly in the week will come to a determination on the subject of a program for sonato uction and when that program is 211- nounced, the Democrats will know how to govern their conduct hereafter. Until the Republicans come to decision, however, the general belief is that the Democrats will keep the discussion of the sundry civil bill going. What the decision of the Republican cancus will be is a matter of much doubt.

There is no doubt that a majority of the Republican senators who met in caucus Thursday night Furor Change in tho Rules of the senate under which debato can be limited and subsequently the passage of the federal election bill. Week in the House, The house will probably follow the programme determined by the committee on rules for the week before, the disposal of the original package and bankruptcy bills. Mr.

Payson's land grant forfeit bill is well on its way to final disposition, and he will hardly obto tho consideration of the other bills, as he did last week.
