There arc three open discussion meetings in Kcrrvillc at 8 p.m. at 114 Texas Circle (call 257-2737 for information). VA Medical Center auditorium, and 980 Darnell Street. A closed discussion meeting is held in Boeme al the Ranger Creek Club House to 8 p.m.

For information call 896-0720 in Kerrvillc. Navy Of U.S., Hill Country Council, will meet Friday, Feb. 19 at the Econo Lodge. Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Captain Robert Lang Kiem, decorated Naval Aviator, will speak on the "Impact of Reduction in Naval Aviation for the Pilot Training Program." Cost is $8 per person, including tax and lip.

For reservations call Eleanor McCuistion, 367-2536. Saturday Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday in Kerrvillc and Fredericksburg. Two meetings are held in Kcrrvillc at 980 Barnelt St. at 8 p.m. an open discussion and a meeting closed to couples in recovery.

The Fredcricksburg meeting is at noon at United Methodist Church. 1800 N. Llano. It is an open discussion. Four weekly meetings relating to Alcoholics Anonymous and drug addiction arc held in Center Point al the Kato's building.

A Ladies Reflection meeting is held on Monday at 6:30 p.m.; open meeting discussions arc held Monday at 8 p.m., Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 8 p.m. Trsllblszsrs will carpool Camp Bullis in San Antonio on Saturday, Feb. 20, for a sanctioned walk. The group will meet at the parking lot across the street from the Dietert Claim, and will leave at 7:30 a.m.

Visitors arc welcome. For information call the Texas Wanderers, (210) 651-6536. Habitat for Humanity, currently working on two houses, needs volunteers to work Saturday, Feb. 20. Workers will build girders and floor joists al the house al 1316 Fifth Street, beginning al 8:30 a.m.

Volunteers arc also needed lo float and lape al 8:30 a.m. at 1312 Fifth Street. Comfort Porcelain Art Club will meet Saturday. Feb. 20 at 10 a.m.

at the Educational Building, Comfort Episcopal Church. Mrs. Juanita Monroe of Bandera will demonstrate "Snow Scenes." Hostesses for the meeting will be Mrs. Naomi Hatch and Mrs. Lurlinc Davenport.

Hill Country Dog Aglltty Group meets Sundays al the Freeman-Fritz Animal Shelter on Spur 100 from 4 to 6 p.m. The meetings consist of instruction and training in dog agility.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. The shoot will be held al the club range on Spur 100 off Highway 27. Members and non-members are invited. Monday New Beginnings Support Group sponsored by Heart of the Hills Hospice, assisis all individuals dealing with the loss of someone close. This ongoing group meets on Mondays from Noon to 1 p.m.

A Family Support Group is being offered by the Km County Community Service Center, for families and relatives of persons who arc victims of severe mental illness. at the Lone Star Lodge Recreation Center, on "Ageing America and Long Term Health Care." VA contest winner Norbert Czarnowskl, center, a resident of the Kerrville VA Medical Nursing Home Care Unit, was a cent winner In a statewide "Heroes and Holidays Christmas Card" contest, sponsored by the American Legion. He was awarded a certificate of appreciation and a $50 savings bond for first place In the contest. Arnold E. Cemetery group to meet The Oak Rest Cemetery AMOCM- tion will hold annual meeting Friday, Feb. 26. at 7:30 p.tn. at the Medina United Methodist Churehyouih center. The entire community is invited to attend.

Benefit dance planned Saturday KERRVILLE A benefit dance for Adrian Garcia will be held at the Lopez Club on Bandera Highway, beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday. Andcrwald, 73, of Bandera, who died Thursday in a Hondo hospital, will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with Father Michael MacManus, celebrant. Burial will follow in the Old Catholic Cemetery with full military honors. A rosary will be recited tonight at 7 p.m.

at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera, with Father Michael MacManus officiating. Bom Jan. 16. 1920 in Bandera, Mr. Anderwald had been a resident of Bandera for most of his life.

He was a rancher and owner of Twin Elm Ranch. He was a member of the Catholic Church, Chamber of Commerce, Visitors and Convention Bureau, San Antonio Livestock Trail Riders Association, Range and Fore- sty Society, and numerous professional societies. He was an alumni of Texas Class of 1942. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps Raiders, and was director of agriculture for the island of Guam.

He served as trail boss of the Cowboy Capitol Trail Ride for 24 years. He married Mary Helen Wedemeyer on March 2, 1946 in Houston. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mary Kay Billings of Tarpley and Katherin Hickman of San Antonio; two sons, Randy Anderwald of Conroe and Chris Anderwald of Bandera; a sister, Arlene Fried of Oklahoma City, three brothers, Gabe R. Anderwald and Alfred M.

Anderwald, both of Bandera, and Alton J. Anderwald of Burnet; and five grandchildren, Will, Kelly and Amy Anderwald, Ty Billings and Christina Hickman. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville is in charge of arrangements. JERRY BOWLING Services Saturday KERRVILLE Services for Jerry Bowling, 59, of Kerrville, who died Wednesday at his residence, will be Saturday at 10 am.

in the chapel of the KerrviUe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Center Poitf Cemetery. Bom Nov. 23, 1933 in Estancia, N.M., he was a former resident of LaPorte. He was the co-owner of Elsie's Hair Fashions.

He was also with Tenneco Oil Company for 13 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion. He married Elsie Dove on July 18,1980 in Kerrville. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Joe Anders of Kerrville; three daughters, Brenda Steeiman of El Campo, Sa- brehna Wyche of Midland, and Darlene Holley of Kerrville; and a half brother, Jerry Bowling of Spearman.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Steei- man, Derek Holley, Charlie Payne, Louis Heimann III, Ralph Arredondo and Brad Adami. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Brock, Ray Miller, Lamar Jenschke and Hank Huntley. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Kerrvillc Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GODWIN Services today SILVER SPRING" Services for Mary Elwell Godwin, 76, of Maryland, who died Wednesday, will be tonight at 7 p.m.

at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 13925 New Hampshire Silver Spring, Md. Bom in Geraldine, Mont, Mrs. Godwin was a former resident of Kerrvillc. She moved to Iowa at an early age, where she attended school in Waterloo. She attended the University of Iowa, where she met her husband, the late Dr.

Francis W. Godwin. In connection with her husband's work for the World Bank and national governments, the Godwins had lived in Argentina, Mexico, the Sudan, and Sri Lanka. They made their home in Washington, D.C. from 1952 to 1955.

In retirement, the Godwins lived in New Hope, moving to KerrviUe for health reasons in 1978. Following her husband's death in 1991, Mrs. Godwin returned to the Washington, D.C. area. Survivors include a son, William F.

Godwin of Silver Spring, a brother, Richard Elwell of Chevy Chase, three sisters, Phyllis Keidel and Abbie Corey of Kerrville, and Lois Vakos of Racine, three grandchildren, Heather Jones of Los Alamos, N.M., Ore- Comfort TAAS aces Three Comfort students were recognized Wednesday at the school board meeting for their performance on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills test. VELMA JONES Services Sunday AUSTIN Memorial services for Velma Davis Jones, 87, of Hunt and Austin, who died Thursday in Austin, will be Sunday at 3 p.m.

in Hunt, with the Rev. Rob McGill of Hunt Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hunt Japonica Cemetery. Born June IS, 1905, she was the daughter of Kerr County pioneers Albert E. (Ab) Davis and Ethel Brazcal Davis.

She and her late husband, Kenneth, owned and operated the Heart the Hills Inn resort, and later established Heart O' the Hills Camp for Girls in memory of their youngest daughter, Jo Jones, who was killed in an auto accident in 1948. She was a charter member of the Hunt Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Richard T. Roberts of Austin; six nieces and three nephews. Memorials may be made to the Velma Jones Memorial Fund of the Hunt Methodist Church, Box 137, Hunt, Texas 78024.

KAREN S. KEHNER Services pending KERRVILLE Services for Karen S. Kehner, 43, of Kerrville, who died Thursday in a Kerrville hospital, are pending at Kerrville Funeral Home. NAOMI MEDFORD Services Saturday MIDLAND Services for Naomi Medford, 73, of Big Spring, who died Wednesday in a Midland hospital, will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring, with the Rev.

Ed Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring. Bom March 14, 1919 in Winnsboro, Mrs. Medford had been a resident of Big Spring since 1929. She was a homemaker and a member of Baptist Temple Church.

She married Jim Medford on Feb. 24, 1940 in Odessa. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Scott Medford of Coppell; a daughter, Dorinda Mays of Mountain Home; a sister, Opal Williams of Post; a brother, Clarence Alvis of PlacerviUe, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Banks.

Pallbearers will be Romy Mays, Ross Callihan, Roy Hobbs, D.D. Johnston, Gene Gresham and BUI Young. Nafiey-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring is in charge of arrangements. JOHN W. ROLLINS Services Monday KERRVILLE Military graveside services for John W. Rollins, 60, of Kerrville, who died Wednesday in a Kerrville hospital, will be Monday at 11:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, with the Rev. Otho Stegall officiating.

Born Dec. 29, 1932 in Ftomont, Mr. Rollins retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a He married Beryl "Bea" Weedmah oti'Mwil 16,1966 in San Antohto. Site -survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Teni; four sons, Jay, Jim, Mike and Dave; 13 brothers and sisters; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. The family has requested no flowers. Memorials can be made to the Volunteer Fund at the Kerrville Veterans Administration hospital, or the Heart of the Hills Hospice. Kerrville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. OPAL R.
