(AP) The second game of the. world final chess match championship quarterbetween grandmasters Bobby Fischer United States and Mark Taimanov of the Soviet Union was adjourned Tuesday 'night on the 45th move. Fischer, playing white, was a pawn ahead and in a position where he normally would force a win. The game was to be continued Wednesday. Fischer leads the match, 1-0.

Foyt in the 500-mile race," said Louis Meyer, three-time winner of the rich Indianapolis Motor Speedway classic to be run for the 55th time May 29.

Foyt, Mauri Rose and the late Wilbur Shaw were the only other drivers who won the 500 three times. Foyt who won in 1961, 1964 and 1967 "is still in his prime," said Meyer, "and the real race is coming up." The 36-year-old Foyt was the sixth-fastest qualifier last weekend, almost m.p.h. slower than pole winner Peter Revson and his Mark 16 McLaren-Of- fenhauser. Superior Car "There is no doubt the McLaren chassis is far superior to the others," Meyer said Tuesday, "but it's a long race." It was even longer when he won in 1928 and 1933, when the Speedway surface still was the original bricks, and in 1936, when the ends and four corners had been covered with asphalt. The entire track now is skidresistant asphalt.

Meyer ha's been associated with the development of both the Offenhauser engine used by the McLarens and the special Ford V-8 racing engine used and manufactured by Foyt. No Change "There hasn't been a basic change only refinements, in racing engines since Harry Miller combined, the Ballot crankcase and the Peugeot cylinder head," Meyer said.
