Her father, David, says he and his wife were having dinner when the tornado hit. Hearing the roar of the approaching funnel, he grabbed Diane and ran for the basement of the apartment dwelling. It was in this Glenwood subdivision that one of the two fatalities of last night's tornado occurred. Diane Schlegel, 4 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlegel, 12413 Glengate drive, was dead on arrival at St. John's Mercy Hospital.

The other fatality was 6-year-old Jeri Cannady of Old Farms Estate.
