A WWII veteran, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of War; was awarded the Purple Heart; worked for Southwestern Telephone Co. in Sf.

ANCEL, RUTH JANE, passed into the loving arms of her heavenly Father, on March 23, 2001, the age of 89, in Houston, TX; she was born Ruth Jane Wagner, on Feb. 20, 1912, to Anthony and Mamie Theiss Wagner, in Dubuque, IA, where she spent her childhood; Ruth married her beloved husband, Leslie John Ancel, on Aug.

17, 1936; Ruth and Les eventually moved to St. Louis, MO, where they resided very happily until Les died on Nov. 9, 1974; Ruth continued living in the family home for the next 22 years until becoming a resident of Mother of Perpetual Help Assisted Living Residence, also in St. Louis, in Oct. 1996; in Nov.

1999 she suffered a serious stroke; she flew to Houston, TX in Feb. 2000, where she resided at Park Manor of Cy-Fair, a nursing home near one of her daughters. Ruth found joy in a variety of volunteer activities, she was an active member of the St. Joan of Arc Womens Sodality for many years, she recorded college textbooks for blind students and was a dedicated volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital.

Preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband and her brother. Leo Wagner of Madison, Ruth leaves 2 daughters, Mary Jo 'Jodie' Goodwin and her husband, Michael L. Goodwin and Kathryn Conrow and her husband, Dennis Conrow; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; special thanks to her dear life long friend, Jo Meyer; to Marilyn Depke and her companion on her walk with Alzheimer's and to Sr. Mary Ann, her special pal at Mother of Perpetual Help. Mom, you lived a long and courageous life battling polio as a child and depression and Alzheimer's as an adult.
