ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH METRO TUESDAY, MARCH 23, 1999 ST. LOUIS DEATHS Francis J. Longo Longtime high school soccer coach Francis J. "Frank" Longo, a onetime St.

Louisan credited with turning the Quincy, 111., area into a nationally recognized hotbed for soccer, died Sunday (March 21, 1999) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital of complications from a stroke. He was 68. After a four-year hitch in the Navy, Mr. Longo went to Quincy College, graduating in 1956. After coaching at McBride and Vianney high schools, Mr.

Longo returned to Quincy in 1964 to coach athletics. "He is the father of soccer at Quincy," said Jack Mackenzie, soccer coach at Quincy University. Mr. Longo organized Quincy College's first soccer team, and it went 8-0. Mr.

Longo served in a variety of other coaching jobs at Quincy College and coached boys and girls soccer at Quincy and Quincy Notre Dame high schools. He helped found the Quinsippi Soccer League, a recreational league for children, and Q-City Indoor Soccer League. In 1991, he was named chief of staff of the United States Soccer Federation and worked on staging the 1994 World Cup in the United States. He was inducted into the NAIA Soccer Hall of Fame. Surviving are his wife, Suzanne, of Quincy; three daughters, Toni Smith of Freeburg, Teri Struck of Quincy and Tina Ruding of Enid, two Matt Longo and Mark Longo, both of Quincy; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hanscn- Spear funeral home. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church Ln Quincy, with burial in Quincy Memorial Park. THOMAS, ADDIE BEA. Ms. Ad-die Thomas was born on Oct 26, 1 933 in Duncan. MS, to the union of the late Emma Jackson and the late Louis Jackson; her family moved to St. Louis in 1941; she was baptized at Mt.

Zion Baptist Church In St. Louis, MO; she would go on to fellowship with Olivette Baptist Church, where she served on the Health, Unit and St. Theresa Catholic Church; she later became and remained a member of Our Lady of the Holy Cross Catholic Church til her death. Addie was educated at Dunbar Elementary School and Washington Tech High School, where she graduated in Jan. of 1 954; she accepted a position as a secretary workina at the Federal Center (ABSCOM); she worked her way to the position of contract specialist and retired at this level in 1 988 following her retirement she worked part-time at Dowd, Haseltine and Poertner, Attorneys at Law.

Addie was united in holy math-monty to the late Mr. William Thomas on June 28. 1 963 and to this union was born one child. Felicia: Addied departed this life suddenly on March 17, 1999; she leaves to cherish in her memory a daughter, Felicia; grandson, Brandon; 3 sisters, obbie Rogers, Doris Love and Martha Robinson; proceeding her in death were 2 brothers, Tony Jackson and Earl Jackson. Interment St.
