E. II 274 i Man. II 274 NEW YORK STOCKS. New York, November 4. The stock market opened active and with more spirit than was shown during the last few days.

Greatest advances ver In local stocks. In the railroad list Baltimore Ohio rose a4- Copper advanced 4. Suffer Pennsylvania, Beading. Wabash pru-ferrd and Missouri Pacific each Steels quiet. Anaconda gained IV.

Dealings In bonds are small. The stock market has been strong today but withoui special aetnitv. The principal feature of speculation was the aggressive bull manipulation in many of the stocks of local corporation. Brooklvn Kapld Transit opened up l1 per cent and held It well. Metropolitan Street Railway gained over 2 per cent.

American Ice preferred held Its opening gain. Baltimore Ohio was by announcement that it had been list eel on the Berlin Borse. Profit-sharing h0d the market in check after the first hour and further currency transfers excited some discussion on the monetary situation, but traders are bull-ishly inclined on the belief that there will be further imports of gold. Other strong features were Pennsylvania, New York Central. St.

Paul. Chicago Northwestern, Atchison, Wabash preferred and Beading second preferred. In the Industrials the iron and steel Etocks showed considerable strength. Amalgamated Copper was little more than steady. Anaconda opened 14 per cent higher.

Government bonds unchanged. Railroad bonds somewhat firmer. Iondon has not traded in over five thousand shares, selling for foreign account. During the first hour there was ft. notable improvement in the commission business, but this has tapered off and toward noon the market became dull at the expense of rises.
