Date Study club met Tuesday night with Miss Elsie May Floyd and Miss Kittie White as hostesses at the Floyd home. Lizzie Seegar, leader, gave a talk on tobacco growing in eastern Tennessee, where she lived several years.

Mrs. Ethel Sterbenz gave a brief review of the talk given by Miss Kathryn Kayser, of Emporia State, on her recent experiences in Europe. Roll call was answered by telling of an embarrassing moment. Nineteen members were present. Mrs.

John Floyd was a guest. In group contests given by the leader the group, including Mrs. Amy Hudson, Mrs. Thelma Brickell, Mrs. Opal Lamb, and Miss Mary Jane Stone received the reward for the greatest number of points.

In contests given by the hostesses, Mrs. Lamb Mrs. Sterbenz won favors in a draw, and Mrs. Lottie Bvasier received the reward for guessing the greatest number of trees from which 30 or more specimens of leaves were displayed. Watercress Soup Two potatoes, diced; one-half cup butter; two egg yolks, slightly beaten; two cups milk; one-half teaspoon tarragon vinegar: one bunch watercress. Cook potatoes in boiling salted water to cover. Drain, reserving liquid, and put throuch ricer. Melt butter in double boiler and blend in egg yolks. Add potatoes, one cup of the potato water, milk and vinegar.

Heat until blended. Wash watercress, and with the water clinging to it, add to soup, Serve at once. This old French Canadian recipe, which serves may be varied by substituting i shredded, crisp lettuce when watercress is not available.
