MATTHEWS IS PROMOTED. Local Baltimore Ohio Official Ooe to Baltimore. Local Baltimore Ohio officials were notified today of the appointment of H. M. Matthews, of Pittsburg, division freight and coal and coke agent of the Baltimore Ohio here, to general coal and coke agent for the company, with headquarters at Baltimore, to succeed James A.

Murray, deceased. Mr. Matthews will leave Pittsburg in a day or bo arsd assume his new duties July 1. H. M.

Matthews Is a veteran railroad man and prior to his associating himself with the Baltimore Ohio, he was the local representative of the Chicago, Burlington Quincy. Before coming to Pittsburg, Mr. Matthews was located In Chicago In the general freight department of the Burlington, and later became traveling freight agent for the company. While the difficulty between them was being adjusted, Mrs. Stiff continued: "And, Judge, he wanted ter hit me with a biscuit." "That will do." interrupted the court. "It must be confessed that the attempt to hit you with a biscuit, which was doubtless of your own baking, was a serious matter, for if it had struck you, vou might not have survived." As there appeared to be nothing to decide, the court then dismissed the case. Mike Hihbin and several chattering Slavish women told dreadful things about John Benitski. who was In court this morning, having been arrested by Officer A. H. Keinhart at Union Station yesterday. John and Mike had got Into a quarrel at the station, and at the hearing it developed that Mike was trying to prevent John from going away and leaving an unpaid board bill behind.

It was also charged by the witnesses that John had been guilty of alleged forgery In the old country, where, they said, he had used the name of a notary public on a document, by which transaction he secured about $5,000 that didn't belong to him.
