He did this twice, the lirst time in a five-mile exhibition against time and again in a three-mile exhibition.

Local honors were easily carried off by George li. Turner, who, in spite of the fact that he was one of the victims of a serious auto accident in Allegheny a few days ago, drove his own machines in a stvle that was little less sensational than that displayed by Oldneld. Mr. Turner appeared in a gray coat, a slouch hat and with his face covered with strips of adhesive plaster. He was given a warm reception by the crowd and was cheered and cheered again when It was seen that he knew a few things about the game which are supposed to belong exclusively to the professional members of the racing raternty.

Other members of the Pittsburg Club who drove their own cars made excellent showings, keeping up with such experienced drivers as Webb Jay and H. Fteldin. All in all, the members of the Automobile Club have every reason' to feel wrell satisfied with the success attending their efforts on the first day of their meet. The most interesting race was a handicap event for 24-horse-power touring cars. It required three heats to decide.
