ViTO CUSUMANQ ARHESTED IN $50,000 SHOP BURGLARY Vito Cusumano, St. Louis produce dealer and police character, was arrested last night for questioning in connection with i'ne theft of $50,000 in clothing and jewelry Sept. 18 from the Vassia Dress Shop, 304 North Euclid avenue. Cusumano, who is free on appeal bond from a perjury conviction Oct. 1, was arrested by detectives at a tavern in the 1100 block of Washington avenue.

He was booked suspected of burglary and stealing and released on $1000 bond returnable Nov. 23 in the Court of Criminal Correction. Maj. John Doherty, assistant chief of detectives, said Cusu mano denied any knowledge of the incident. The loot included mink accessories, suits, dresses of silk and several hundred dollar from a small safe in a beauty shop operated in conjunction with the dress shop.

STATE TEACHERS' OFFICERS Two persons from the St. Louis area were among officers elected by the Missouri State Teachers Association yesterday at the organization's convention in Kansas City. Clobert B. Broussard, principal of the Edward Bates Sdhool, was elected second vice president and Henry D. Goodwin, instructor at Lindbergh Senior High School, Fenton, was elected third vice president.

FUNERAL TO BE TOMORROW FOR ALBERT 6ASTAN Funeral services for Albert C. Bastan, a retired maintenance supervisor in St. Louis for the Pennsylvania Railroad, will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Hoff-meister Colonial undertaking establishment, 6464 Chippewa street. Burial will be in Sunset Burial Park.

Mr. Bastan, 69 years old, died Tuesday at his home, 5520 Walsh street, of cancer. He was a native of St. Louis and worked 47 years for the railroad. He retired in 1959.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Arctoe Bastan; a sister, Mrs. Martha Avery, Pagedale; and two brothers, Fred Bastan, St. Louis, and Oscar F. Bastan.

ANTON NIEMEYER NAMED TO CONDEMNATION BOARD Anton J. Niemeyer, former alderman from the Eighth ward was appointed yesterday by the circuit judges as a member of the municipal Condemnation Commission. H- replaces Edward J. English, member of a real estate firm, who died last month. Niemeyer, who lives at 5915 ST.
