LOUIS POST-DISPATCH MONDAY, OCTOBER 14. 1996 Teacher 9a9 Kriegshauser BROTHERS FUNERAL SERVICE, INC. 2556 South Brentwood 962-0601 J' for high overhead? i i 0, Why pay A 11 1 1 All funeral homes offer As the children left the table to prepare to go outside, Millman suggested they push their chairs back under the table. They complied.

Then she started singing again, "Everybody sit down, sit down, sit, everybody sit down, so we can go outside." Singing is a technique she uses to give children directions. She has made up many of the songs. Others may be 50 years old or more, Denny Bernstein said. "It's much nicer to start singing a song than to yell, 'Everybody be And it gets their attention more quickly," Millman said. She added, "I can't sing, but it's a question of survival." Singing, she says, is the department of her husband, Sol, 81, an electrical contractor.

He likes to sing and dance and is doing both for a Broadway revue next weekend by Show Stoppers, a performing group for people over 50. Millman has taught since since her early 20s, when she got jobs during the Great Depression teaching dancing, first at Grace Hill House and then ballroom dancing to teen-agers at the Council House. She has been a free-lance choreographer and a leader of an Israeli folk group, Harikuda. For more than 20 years, she was a dance instructor for the Brentwood Recreation Department. Millman shrugged when asked how she is adapting to her new age.

Longevity is in her genes, she said; her father died at 93, her mother at 86. "I don't care if you're 20 or 90, you have to have a motivation for getting up in the morning," she said. "I'm fortunate to work where I do, where they don't feel I won't do a good job because of my age." church funerals, memorial, graveside and From page one were beginning to write words. She had lots of routines that got them used to "And in her quiet, mild-mannered way, she always maintained discipline," Morgan said. Kneeling to tie an untied shoe, Millman reinforced her teaching with a pat on the head and praise: "Thank you for saying, That always helps." Sitting at a low table at the midmorning snack, she Jed the children in a short song, "Today is Wednesday, today is Wednesday "At the end, she raised her glass of juice, saying, "Bon Appetite." uemauuu services, cut iney au nave tne same drawback high overhead.
