4SC St. Charles Post WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1996 THE DOCKET Howell which has to report it to law enforcement." Under the new law, says Braun, the crime of assault on school property is now a felony, and students will be expelled for bringing a gun to school. Failure to report a crime at school, and a parent's or guardian's lying about a transfer student's previous school record are now misdemeanors. The new law also expands the drug-free zone at schools from 1,000 to 2,000 feet and includes school buses. "We need to keep lines of communication open," said Braun.

Among those at the meeting were Cottleville Police Chief Dennis Faul-kenberry, St. Peters Chief of Police Ron Neubauer, St. Charles Police Chief David King and St. Peters City Prosecutor David Hamilton. Larry M.
