Helen was very proud to be a direct descendent of Joseph Tayon who came over from Illinois in 1764 with Pierre Laclede to help in the founding of St. Louis. He built a water mill which he later sold to Laclede.

This was the first industry in St. Louis. Helen was also proud to be a direct descendent of Nicholas Marechal who came over from Fort Chartres, Illinois to be of help in the village of St. Louis. These were the first soldiers in St.
