Collins, D.D.S The Best Toothbrush Did you know that before 1938, toothbrushes were made of natural bristles from the akr fibers of hogs? It's true. Because these bristles were hollow, they tended to trap bacteria and wear out quickjy. In the 1950's, non bristles were developed; they last longer and clean the teeth better With today's multitude of choice in toothbrushes, how do you know what's best? There are a few things to look for.

To begin with, the handle shoula be comfortable to grasp, with two flat sides and no longer than about six inches. Secondly, the bristles should be "soft" or "extra soft: and the box may state nylon." You also want to make sure the tufts are of equal length. Finally, the brush head itself shouldn't cover more than two teeth at a time. Anymore than that and it becomes difficult to clean hard to get at areas. There is no one, best toothbrush for everyone.

Be choosy and find the brush that you and your dentist are comfortable with. Always remember, good dental hygiene begins with daily brushing. A list of the flag's names will be near the poster in the museum so visitors may look to find a flag that an ancestor could have served under during the war. Money given to the Texas division on the sales of the poster has been given to the Texas Confederate Museum at Hillsboro at Hill College to help restore the original flags.

The flags were in storage in San Antonio for many years but with the generosity of Hill College, the flags, as well as many other items of historical value, are now kept in a well- organized, safe place. Snodgrass and Pat Folks, past presidents of the U.D.C. chapter, along with current president Dorothy Nan McLean, presented the colorful poster to Josephine Parker at a reception at the Schreiner Museum on July 8.
