Marshall Tucker AtWestport THE Marshall Tucker Band, which produced some of the most authentically American sounds to have emerged from the factional music scenes of the early '70s, will perform at 8 p.m., April 4, at Westport Playhouse, 1-270 and Page Boulevard. The band's music, a blend of rock, country and jazz stylings, features lead vocalist and founding member Doug multi-instrumentalist Jerry Eubanks, vocalist Stuart Swanlund and guitarist Rusty Milner. The rhythm section includes bassist Tim Lawter and drummer Ace Allen. Pianist Don Cameron rounds out the group. Tickets are $17.50.

Mew Twist: John Camenzind, owner of the dance club Twist, 1224 Washington told us that the club will close for good following one last Urban House Party Night April 21. Camenzind's new venture, the club Fallout, will open at 1324 Washington Ave. on April 25. "Twist has been here for three years," Camenzind said. "It's time for something new." He said Fallout would feature a video club and a big patio.

"It's bigger, and has a larger dance floor. We'll feature Rave music on Friday nights, but otherwise we'll continue with regular doses of high-energy dance music." Twist gairt: Twist will play host to the "KDHX Techno-Rave Night" from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. April 10. KDHX's DJ Disaster and Twist DJ Mike Carroll will spin discs.

Door prizes will be awarded to some who arrive early. Cover is $5, over 21 only. Proceeds benefit the radio station. For more information, call 421-0003. Name Game: Joe Finn, Jon Finn, Steve Lord and Matt Meyer played their last gig as the band The Finns March 27 at Mississippi Nights.

Henceforth, the group will go by the name Psychviolet. Why the name change? "The band was tired of being The Finns," Joe Finn said. "The Finns was a character creation we made up early on and everybody was tired of playing that role," he said. I told Finn I liked the old name. "I liked it, too," he said.

"But when our music gained an element of seriousness, we saw no reason to continue using a frivolous band name."
