Police believe Liscombe was overpowered and shot while questioning a man acting suspiciously. Investigators reported no solid leads Sunday in the investigation into the fatal shooting of JoAnn V. Lis-combe, a St. Louis County police officer. "We're continuing to run down all the leads we get as the information comes in," said Maj.

Dennis Long of the St Louis County Police. "Unfortunately, we've got nothing positive to report, but we're still getting leads and Body Of New Jersey Firefighter Is Found PATERSON, N.J. (AP) Paterson firefighters have found the body of a missing colleague two days after a furious fire destroyed much of two city blocks. The body of the firefighter, John Anthony Nicosia, was found Saturday afternoon in the corner of a woman's apparel shop called the Underground II, where the fire is believed to have started. Nicosia, 28, was lost inside the burn ing building in the first minutes of the blaze Thursday.

Mayor William Pascrell Jr. said that Nicosia was wearing breathing apparatus but may have run out of air and become disoriented in the heavy smoke that filled the building. The firefighter was a member of the first company to arrive at the blaze, which burned out of control for more than 12 hours and caused about $15 million in damage. OBITUARIES William G. (Dick) Smith, Richard Venker, William G. Voelkel, Laura (Jackie) William G. Venker, 89, secretary-treasurer of Barnard Stamp died Saturday (Jan. 19, 1991) at Deaconess Hospital of complications from inju ries he had suffered in an auto accident. The accident happened Jan.

16 when Mr. Venker drove into a parked car at Hampton Avenue and Holly Hills Road. i town St. Louis, was established in 1860. It is the oldest stamp house west of the Mississippi.

Mr. Venker retired in 1977, but he continued to work one day a week until his death. He was a charter member of Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council No. 2619 and a former Grand Knight of the council. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m.

today at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street in south St. Louis. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Tuesday at St. Raphael the Archangel Church, 6000 Jamieson Avenue in South St. Louis.

Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Affton. Among the survivors are his wife, Lucille L. Venker; one son, Donald P. Venker of Houston; two daughters, Helen V. Mannion of Largo, and Suzanne Rice of St.

Louis; one sister, Bertha Naert of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. south St. Louis, Venker was a native of the city. He graduated from the old Loyola Hall High School.

Mr. Venker began working for Barnard Stamp Co. as a salesman in 1925. The company, which manufactures rubber stamps and marking devices, had been purchased by Mr. Venker's father, John B.

Frank, 82, a civil engineer with the St. Louis Planning Commission, died Saturday (Jan. 19, 1991) of heart disease at St. Luke's Hospital in west St. Louis County.

Mr. Frank, of Ballwin, was a native of St. Louis. He graduated from Soldan High School and got his bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Mr.

Frank began working with the Missouri Highway Commission after his graduation in 1931. He worked as a civil engineer for the planning commission from 1940 to 1944 and from 1946 until his retirement in 1977. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was stationed in Okinawa during World War II. He was a past commander of Fred W. Stockham Post No.

4 of the American Legion. He retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1969 as a lieutenant commander. A funeral service will be held at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Burial will be in the national cemetery. Among survivors are his wife, Riette Frank; one son, Richard A. Frank of west St. Louis County; one daughter, Ann F. Haldeman of Ball-win; one brother, James D.

Frank of Topeka, and four grandchildren. Ronald Schlichtemier; Was Auto Dealer Ronald E. Schlichtemier, a retired automobile dealer, died Saturday (Jan. 19, 1991) at Northgate Park Nursing Home in Florissant after a long illness. He was 88.

Mr. Schlichtemier, a resident of Ferguson for 50 years, founded Schlichtemier Motors at 614 South Florissant Road in 1946. It was known as Slick's Auto Sales. He continued operating the business until he retired in the early 1970s. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.
