(AI' Laserphoto) Asphyxiation on Believed Cause Of 20-Year-Old Man's Death By DWAYNE COX Avalanche-Journal Staff The apparent cause of the death of a 20- -old Lubbock man was asphyxiation resulting from an open-flame heater and oven burning in his two-room house, officials said today. Police found Jimmy Lee Taylor lying across the doorway in his 1914 17th St. (rear) residence at about 3:45 p.m.

Monday. An official ruling is pending with Justice of the Peace Wayne LeCroy. LeCroy inade the preliminary ruling of asphyxiation after pronouncing Taylor dead at the scene. Funeral arrangements are pending with Sunders Funeral Home. Officer Dale Holton found Taylor inside the house behind Mrs.

Dotsy M. Wilson's home. Mrs. Wilson. owner of the dead man's rented residence, notified police at about 3:35 p.m.

ald Wayne Dickerson, the man who allegedly burglarized the home of Naomi Miller Martin live years ago only days before she was murdered. Judge Robert Wright set the bond by phone today for Dickerson on the 1371h District Court indictment lodged against hirn. His father. J.C. Bryant, was one of the founders of the Bryant-Link stores in Spur, Hamlin, Stamford and other area towns. The Bryant Link chain was sold in 195t. after which Bryant operated the Bryant Implement Co.

in Stamford before ing to Lubbock in 1975. Fle was a native of Anson, and operated stores in Spur and Hamlin before moving to Stamford in 1935. He was a director of the National Bank in Hamlin and served on the board of stewards at St. John's United Methodist Church in Stamford. He was also Rotarian.

He was a World War I and 11 veteran. Survivors Include his son, Bill of tubbock: 0110 sister. Mrs. C.G. Inglish of Lubbock: two grandchildren, Mrs.

Floyd Dunavant of Hereford and Grady Dunavant of Flordada: two sisters, Mrs. Joy Wright of Sand Springs. and 3lyra Dun want of Floydada: five grandchildren and sis great-grandchildren. said he was surprised the two stoves burning in the house had not started a fire.

"It was so hot in there you could feet it just walking up to the house," Judge Leroy said. Mrs. Wilson said she last saw Taylor Dec. 21 when she asked him about his rent and received a promise that he would pay her Friday. Utilizing this information, officers theorized Taylor had been in the house about a week.

Detectives found an unreadable. faded note tacked to the screen door of the Taylor residence, but were unable to determine if the note figured in the death. All three of the house's windows were shut. Mrs. Wilson told police Taylor apparently had lost his keys and had been entering and exiting the house through a front window used by officers lo enter the residence.

"I noticed the screen off the window yesterday and put the sereen bark on and mailed it down," the shaken Mrs. Wilson said. She also said Taylor had :1 dog in the house when she saw him Dec. 20. Police found no dog at the scene Monday.

"ile was very quiet and had no compa ny." Mrs. Wilson said. Judge 1cCroy said an official ruling would he issued today after he reviews police reports. Officers emphasized no signs of foul play were evident. Taylor's body was fully clothed and officers re covered his wallet.
