Chollet Of the Post-Dispatch Staff Crystal City police are investigating the disappearance of a high school student from Festus. The student, Diana J. Braungardt, 18, of the 800 block of West Main Street, has been missing since Wednesday night. Police fear that she may have been harmed.

Child Find-Missouri, an organization that helps find missing children, announced Saturday that it would give $500 for information about Braungardt's whereabouts. Anyone with information is urged to call Child Find at 781-8226, 'to get in contact with the agency's office, 7164 Manchester Boulevard in Map-lewood, or to call the Crystal City police. Braungardt was last seen at 10:02 p.m. Wednesday, when she clocked out after her shift as a cashier at a Venture Store in Twin City Mall in Crystal City. "She said specifically that she was in a big hurry to get home because she had a big test the next day and she needed to get home to study for it," said Lt.

Steve Meinberg of the Crystal City police. "I don't think she ever made it to the car." Her car, a 1982 yellow Ford Escort, was left on the lot, apparently untouched. Police could find no sign of Braungardt's belongings on the lot or in nearby trash cans or dumpsters. Braungardt, the only daughter of the Rev. Marvin and Jane Braungardt, is a senior at Festus High School.

Several weeks ago, police said, Braungardt quarreled with her parents and stayed with a friend overnight. But police said that she had told her parents where she would be, had called home frequently and had come home when she had said she would. "Since then, she's told friends that she's loved going home, that they're treating her like a queen," Meinberg said. Diana Braungardt is described as 5-foot-6, 108 pounds, with medium-length wavy brown hair and hazel eyes.

She was last seen wearing bright turquoise pants, her Venture smock and a boy's short black coat. Meinberg said that the Venture store at Twin City Mall had been robbed six weeks ago by a gunman.
