Mr. Richardson began his career in the metalworking, manufacturing and mechanical contracting industry starting with his father's Huber and Richardson Contractors. The company was founded here in 1920. From 1929 to 1941, Mr. Richardson operated the Richardson later joined Natkin and Co.

engineering firm. In and the late Sam Shure purchased St. Louis branch of Natkin and formed Shure-Richardson Inc. and Shure Manufacturing. A son, David J.

Richardson of Ladue, continues as president of Shure-Richardson. Another son, Daniel E. Richardson of Town and Coun-try, is president of Shure Manufacturing. Mr. Richardson attended Washington University and was a registered engineer.

He also had plumbing and drain layer's licenses and was a product design engineer. Surviving besides his sons are his wife, Antonette and eight grandchildren. A funeral for Michelle Renee Cate of Hazelwood, who had suffered from a rare skin disease, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 2310 Muegge Road, St. Charles.

Burial will be in SL Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles. Michelle, 3, died Sunday at St. Louis Children's Hospital of respiratory failure. She had suffered since her birth from junctional epidermolysis bullosa, a rare and incurable skin disease.

The disease is a degenerative one in which slight contact to skin and ordinary friction within the body can cause blistering and bleeding. Her doctors said that most children whose cases were as severe as hers died within their first year. The dls-ease occurs in about one in every 50,000 births. She had received special nursing care at home. Her case was publicized widely, and nearly $100,000 was raised for her through school raffles, garage sales, a horse show and donations.

Surviving are her parents, Gary D. and Debbie Cate of Hazelwood; a sister, Melissa Lynn Cate of Hazej-wood; grandparents, L.C. and Myrtle Tyler of St. Peters and Euvila Cate of St. Charles; great-grandparents, Ruth Stevens of Hayti, and Van and Lessie Corning of Piggott, Ark.

A funeral Mass for Elmer J. Nelson, the founder of a local paving will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Louise De Maril-lac Catholic Church, 6350 Garesche Avenue. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Nelson, 77, of north St. Louis, died Sunday of cancer at the Joseph Hill Infirmary in Eureka. Mr. Nelson founded the E.J.

Nelson Paving Co. in 1952 and operated the company until he sold the business and retired in 1972. Mr. Nelson was active in area Boy Scouts activities and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, Claudia; a son, Donald Nelson of Wentzville; two daughters, Sally Reinhardt of Shrewsbury and Judith Ann Szonn of Fair-born, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
