South Corolina Tampa Bay -The National League announced that Sunday's Cincinnati-Chicago game in which Pete Rose matched Ty Cobb's career hit record will stand as a tied game and that Rose's hits will count even though the contest was not completed.

If the outcome of the contest affects a division championship, the teams will play another game at the end of the season, a National League spokeswoman said. The game was interrupted by rain for 2 hours and 3 minutes before being halted by darkness in the ninth inning with the score 5-5. The Pittsburgh Pirates disclosed the names of the final two players they obtained from Los Angeles for third baseman Bill Madlock. In addition to outfielder RJ. Reynolds, the Pirates acquired the contracts of first baseman Sid Bream and utility-man Cecil Espy.

Catcher Gary Carter of the New York Mets has been named National League player of the week. Carter hit five homers in back-to-back games and has nine in his last nine games. Earning the honor in the American League was Lloyd Moseby, center fielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, who had five homers, two doubles and 27 total bases. Minnesota Twins pitching coach Johnny Podres has been replaced by Dick Such, formerly of the Texas Rangers. Podres had not planned to return to the Twins after this season.

The Minnesota North Stars acquired left wing Mats Hallin from the New York Islanders in exchange for cash or a conditional late-round choice in the 1986 NHL draft, Minnesota general manager Lou Nanne said. Hellin, 27, had been with the Islanders' organization since 1981. The trade will reunite him with the North Stars' new coach, Lome Henning, a former Islanders assistant. The New York Rangers signed defenseman Terry Carkner, 19, the club's first choice in the 1984 National Hockey League entry draft. The Los Angeles Kings acquired center Glen Currie from the Washington Capitals in exchange for left wing Darryl Evans.

Currie, 27, had his best season in 1 982-83, when he had 11 goals and 18 assists in 68 games. Evans, 24, played in only 1 1 games for the Kings over the last two seasons. o-entry. SIXTH RACE-S1M00, claiming, 3 furlongs. (15), Garner (4).
