33SEP2i884 SB SpL 21,1954 SILDUIS POST-DISPATCH Obituaries Couple Acquitted Of Abuse Of Own Son, Four Others Julie Fillo; Vanished On Hike In Rainier Park 7 Years Ago Private funeral services for Julie Filio of Glendale are being planned by hts family. Miss Fillo disappeared during a bike in the mountains of Washington state seven years ago, when she was 20. National park officials in Seattle said this week that they bad found the remains of Miss Fillo. Park spokesman Bill Dengler said three hikers had discovered bones and biking gear Sunday at the bottom of a ledge in the Cowlitz Chimneys area of Mount Rainier National Park. The remains Included a pen inscribed "Fillo Sales and Engineering Dengler said.

He reported no evidence of foul play. Miss Fillo's father, Francis B. Fillo was president of Fillo Sales It Engineering Co. Inc. He died three years ago.

His wife, Julie, now lives in Kirkwood. and has two sons, Larry and Frank. The discovery of the body was a relief to my mother," said Larry Fillo. "It is nice for ber to know what happened to truly know what happened. A private service for Miss Fillo will be conducted after the remains are released by the meidcal examiner of Pierce County, Wash.

Miss Fillo was a student at the University of Missouri and a summer intern at Mount Rainier Park when she disappeared on an overnight trip on June 30, 1977. She had hiked alone on an isolated 19-mile trail in a rugged area of the park. Miss Fillo was considered an experienced hiker. She set out with fairly warm clothing, a sleeping bag and food for at least a couple of days, even though she was supposed to return after one day. When she did not.

park officials began a search. CHASKA. Minn. (AP) Robert and Linda Bentz vowed to regain custody of their childreo after they were acquitted of abusing their 6-year-old son and four other children. But prosecutor Kathleen Morris blamed Wednesday's acquittals on the jury's refusal to believe child witnesses.

She said she would fight the reunion and would prest the prosecution of 23 other residents of Scott County. "It'll be nine months tomorrow since they took them away from us," a jubilant Mrs. Bentz said Wednesday night after the jury acquitted her and her husband. "All we want now is to get the kids back She said she hoped Ms. Morris "isn't vindictive enough to fight us." The case against the Bentzes was based on testimony from six children, including two of the couple's own.

The six said they had been sexually abused. Since last year, 24 adults and one juvenile. Including a police officer and a deputy sheriff in Scott County, have been accused of involvement in two child-sex rings. The Bentzes were the first to stand trial. The cases have split the small farming town of Jordan, about 40 miles southwest of Minneapolis, with some townspeople charging that prosecutors have gone overboard.

But Ms. Morris said the outcome of the case "doesn't affect in the least" the other cases she is prosecuting on sex-abuse charges. "We're going ahead with another trial Oct I. The bard thing is going to be telling those kids that adults don't believe them. We aren't at a point In our society where kids get a fair shake." The prosecution's case was weakened early in the four-week trial when District Judge Martin Mansur threw out the testimony of James Rud, a garbage collector who said he had seen the Bentzes engage in sex acts with children.

Rud was testifying under a plea-bargain arrangement that Judge Mansur ruled might motivate him to lie. Abue Inquiry End In Minneapolis, a prosecutor said the investigation into allegations of sexual abuse of children at the Children's Theatre School had ended with the indictments of two employees on charges of failing to report their suspicions of abuse. Wayne B. Jennings, 53, the school's education director, was charged with two counts, and science teacher Scott Creeger, 37. was charged with one count Both were released without bond Wednesday pending court appearances next month.

Hennepin County Attorney Tom Johnson said the inquiry had ended. In addition to the latest indictments, four employees have been charged with abusing students. i i Jane Priwer; Edited University Magazine 1958, writing about various aspects of the U.S. educational system. From 1958 to 1968, Mrs.

Jessie Bryant; Preached With Husband 2 More Found Dead After Elevator Blast WASHINGTON (AP) Congress has sent to President Ronald Reagan a bill making it more difficult to cut off Social Security disability benefits.

He is expected to sign it The measure was passed Wednesday by the Senate on a 99-0 vote and by the House 402-0. The cases of more than 100,000 disability recipients whose benefits were cut off will be reviewed under new standards set by the legislation, according to staff members of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee. Under the measure, case reviewers must show that an individual's medical condition has improved before terminating disablility benefits. It also provides that disability recipients threatened with a benefit cutoff may continue to get all payments until they have exhausted all appeal avenues. The bill would continue a moratorium on the review of mentally impaired individuals until review standards have been established.

In addition, it would require that, in determining eligibility, examiners must consider the combined effects of a person's impairments and whether any one condition would be severe enough to qualify for benefits. KNOXVILLE. Tenn. (AP) Rescue workers searching the charred ruins left by a grain elevator explosion on Thursday found the bodies of two men killed when tons of concrete fell onto a loading dock. The discoveries brought to three the number of people killed in Wednesday's blast at ConAgra Inc.

Ten people were injured. Officials at the company said all other workers had been accounted for.
