The St. Charles Post Wd Aug. 15, 1884 3SC Letters stcharles bulletins Objects To Stories I am appalled at the publicity the SL Charles Post chose to give the New Melle Festival. The headlines read, "3 Arrests By Deputies At New Melle Festival" and "Truck Taken. Wrecked.

Two Girls Arrested." in which the last paragraph unnecessarily gave New Melle more negative publicity. As a community club member, I'd like to tell you how uninformed your paper is concerning this event The New Melle Community Club members volunteer a great deal of time and effort developing this as a family activity. We have thousands of people coming to our community during this three-day event young and old alike. No mention was made of the beautiful well kept grounds, the good music, the delicious food, the carnival rides, the 33rd annual parade or the beautiful sight the hot-air balloons made as they filled the sky above the festival. If you wanted to report on the New Melle Festival, there was plenty to telL If you wanted to give our village negative publicity, you did a good job of that In the future, as far as the New Melle Community Club publicity is concerned, I would appreciate you keeping in mind the old adage, "If you can't say anything good don't say anything at all." Alma Hill Wentzville Club Notes 'V Si- Cites Adverse Coverage I am a charter member of the New Melle Community Club, interested in the progress of New Melle for the past 33 years.

Needless to say, I and many of the New Melle area residents are disappointed at the adverse coverage your paper gave the community on the festival of July 27, 28 and 29. All your paper stated was negative. It sure would have been nice to have the same publicity as given the blessing of the fleet at Portage des Sioux. Yes, we folks here at New Melle have very close ties with each other and for our community. We had many nice things that could have been a part of the coverage.

The festival board and all the members do an excellent job providing entertainment for the young and old alike, such as a garden tractor pull on Friday night, a queen crowning and a German band. Saturday was filled with many exciting events, a baby contest Little Miss New Melle, carnival rides, concession stands and a dance. Sunday was the huge street parade, the Patt Holt Singers, The Happy Tappers, along with 18 hot-air balloons taking off on the ball diamond. All of this was pleasing to the crowd. A smorgasbord was served on Sunday, and food and drink stands were available all three days.

Now, I am sure if your paper tried to find something nice to say about our festival it could have done so. A positive view of your article is that the men were apprehended and' simply not ignored. Doris Wildschuetz Foristell i i I i Annexation Hopes Hat Trick Linda Conrady models her creation by "Christian Di Odor" for the photographer Tuesday, just before appearing on the runway at the "One Size Fits AH" fashion show at the Holiday Inn St PetersSt. Charles. The fun show was part of the St.

They have now requested voluntary annexation to make legal that which has always been taken for granted, namely, that they are a part of Flint Hill in fact as well as in spirit. The village officials are hoping to make their dream come true. Mrs.

Ann Wilson City Clerk Hint Hill Later in the meeting, at least one resident of Bridlespur Francene GrzeChowiak of 3 Chase Court said that no one should get the idea that there is not opposition to the proposal. "We'll be here," she said, referring to the two scheduled public hearings. Among her objections, she said, are the increased traffic that would be generated and water drainage problems. Jefferson is seeking the rezoning of the land to allow for planned residential use. Part of the parcel is now zoned for commercial use.

Jefferson also is seeking approval of the preliminary plan of the development and approval of a preliminary plat, or map, of the first phase of the project. I would like to thank the reporter for accurately reporting the situation, In the Aug. 9 St. Charles Post, between Wentzville and Flint Hill regarding the annexation of a portion of Highway 61. However, I feel that several more facts could have been added.

The residents on the west side of Flint Hill, adjoining Highway 61, have always felt a part of our village. They have helped support our organizations, the Flint Hill Athletic Project From page one for Jefferson, calls the project "a new front door for Lake Saint Louis." John R. Baggs, a consultant for the project said that living units would range in size from 950 to 1,150 square feet. Each would have two bedrooms, and most would have two-car garages. Prices of the units would be in the $70,000 range.

A private street 24 feet wide was proposed first, but the commission has recommended that it be widened to 26 feet Nees said that he had met with residents of Bridlespur subdivision, on the north side of Lake Saint Louis Boulevard. "You can't please everybody," he said, "but a majority of them are in agreement with our plan or they have agreed not to oppose it." CHEZ LE CHASSEUR Modern Thru Antique Jewelry Bought Sold Repaired.
