With sharp angles and in quick spurts, the camera pinpoints several massive stones, reminiscent of England's Stonehenge, that are stuck into the ground in an open field. Very spooky. "Children of the Stones" is a new, seven-episode miniseries on Nickelodeon beginning Sunday. We soon learn that the widowed Adam Brake, an astrophicist, and his son, Matthew the star of the series are going to spend three months in this village to finish father's research on electromagnetic fields emanating from the stones. Something's rotten in Milbury, however.

The people in this pretty English village appear out of nowhere, without so much as a footstep heard. Images of the stones flash before Matthew's eyes at the strangest times. Young children effortlessly solve what seem to be complex mathematical problems. Everyone says "happy day" to each other in a syrupy, sweet, singsong manner. "Children of the Stones" sets its story against the lush English countryside it was filmed in Avebury, England, where the actutal "sun temple" sits and uses actors who play their roles with understatement and realism, despite all the Dracula-like wailing going on.

The miniseries is part of Nickelodeon's ongoing "Third Eye" series, which permiered in January. 6:00 a.m. Romper Room 7:00 a.m. Bugs Bunny 7:00 a.m. NICK Today's Special 7:30 a.m.
