AMSTERDAM. Hollsuid. May 26. The International Football Federation's world soccer championship in 1930 will be open to amateurs and professionals. Decision to this effect was reached at the federation's convention here yesterday on motion of the French delegates.

In supporting the French resolution, Dr. G. P. Manning, one of the American delegates, pointed out that some nations maintain that a few of the teams now sent to the Olympics should be classed at least as semiprofessionals. Countries adhering strictly to the amateur rules are on an uneven basis with oth ers.

Other countries, it was pointed out. hae professional teams which however are not eligible for the Olympics. In a free-for-all championship the French and other delegates contended each nation should be allowed to select what it considers its strongest aggregation. When Pete Donohue went in in the third inning Thursday it was noticed that he was badly In need of a shave. So the Card proceeded to give him a trimming. Lyrics By Limerick Luke. PETE DONOHUE needed a shave, When put in the frolic to save; But our friend Sunny Jim Started lathering him. And made his "Smith Brothers' behave, NiceWork.

We wish to thank Mr. T. Dou-thit for so overwhelmingly confirming our opinion expressed limerickal terms to the effect that he had improved BO per cent, by demonstrating that was at least 100 per cent. Ho be didn't feel hurt The fans have rung nearly all the possible changes on his name, but if Douthit keeps tip his spectacular work at the plate and afield the opposition will soon bo calling him "Uncle." And what a grand and glorious galaxy of gardeners those Car. dinal outfielders are! Even th3 subs are stars.

Very True. TWINKLE, twinkle, little star. Chasing baseballs near and far; With a substitute or two Who are just as good as you. If you should relax one mite, For the job you'd have to fight. This thing of outbatting the foe and getting trimmed is getting to be quite fashionable.

fliree Grand Rapids (Mich.) jjnateur boxers, one the National junior A. A. U. flyweight champion, arve home today, to tell the folks just how they lost each of the three bouts in which they participated last night against gt. Louis amateurs on the Flori A.

C. card at the Battery Arena. Unless the youths have good im-rinations, they will have little to bj, for little took place. The pro--jtm was as mild as the evening which about 2000 persons enjoyed in the open-air arena. There was not much to choose between the intercity bouts.

The test of three drab special bouts was won by Joe Ghnouly over Jimmy Kerr, who failed to show Uy of the ability that would be expected of a national champion. Ghnouly is a willing mixer, and lis very willingness would have proved his own undoing had his opponent had more than a powder-puff punch. As It was, however. Ghnouly suffered only a reddened nose when he was met with left jibs as he rushed the visitor. Kerr, after taking some solid thumps to the stomach in the sec-end, backed Ghnouly to the ropes ander a barrage of blows, but the local worked his way out with no peat difficulty.

He had the edge in every one of the three rounds. Reuben Edmunds opened a cut rer Jake Graswick's left eye just after the beginning of their light fright bout, but that was about all the damage he could do. The an-nouncement that Graswick was awarded the decision was taken with only a mild display of interest The opponent of Cliff Doetzel. one Lester Quillin, was no match for the clever little Doetzel in boxing ability, but he was rugged and the blows of the local flyweight did aot cause great damage. Doetzel Unded more often than did Quillin, and was fresh at the finish, while the Grand Rapids entry went to lis corner for the last time a tired Doetzel got the decision.

One scheduled intercity bout did lot take place, when Tony Myszka fiiifd to come to St. Louis for his Sout with John Schwake. SPECIAL BOfTS. Jake Graswlck. Knlsht of Colombo TiM l.no.

Core Two of Soades Fancy Also ehrible: An Error in Tact. VTrOXDER what Harry Sharpe thought as he did his tstuff in the earlier events on Thursday night's boxing card at the Coliseum. Sharpe was not the referee of the final event. In which Chuck Wiggins figured. That he was not can be scored as one "boner" by the members of the commission.

It was at Sharpe's insistence that Wiggins was disqualified in the De Mave bout, which action, under Missouri rules, automatically suspended the fighter. The commission not only suspended its own regulations and permitted a disqualified fighter to box, but it hit a at Sharpe by ordering another referee to handle the bout. A State organization that fails to back up its own officials is off a lee shore with a heavy storm brewing. "I OXLT consented to officiate Thursday in the in terest of the game," Sharpe explained. "When I disqualified Wiggins I told State Inspector Hand lan at ringside that either I would get out of the ring or Wiggins must; and he agreed that Wiggins Bhould not be allowed to go on with the show.

"Previously I had warned Wiggins. I had told him he was a disgrace to the boxing game and that if he repeated his tactics just once more that would end him. He deliberately fouled again." It is hard to understand how the commission could have all but flouted its official by allowing Wiggins to operate in this vicinity again. But it did. The Reason Why.

rT7 HE commission apparently was seeking to save Jack Tip-pett, promoter, from a heavy loss. Tippett explained to a Post-Dispatch reporter that Wiggins was "in" to him 1115 and, as this was the last show of the season, he would have no other chance to "get out." Of the $1150. $550 was paid to release Wiggins car from a mortgage. Tippett said. Another $150 was paid to Wiggins between that time and the DeMave fight.

Since the DeMave bout Tippett has advanced Wiggins an additional sum of $450, he said. The most Interesting feature about this is that the last $450 was advanced AFTEK Sharpe had disqualified Wiggins and it was known that the rules called for suspension! Only Natural. 7 OU can't keep a good I man down." That's why Hornsby is now up manager of the Boston Braves. It was a foregone conclusion from the first that a manager of Slattery's type, with a background of big league success, could not Ions remain in competition with a man of Hornsby's prestige and leadership qualities. If there is stuff in the Braves it will come out Hornsby is a winning player.

He can't remain with a losing combination and be content. He fighta and wrangles and chews his baseball cud all the time. He's a type that is rare in the game today, more's the pity. If he has shortcomings they are aside from the ball field. Mr.

Fuch's or Is it Mr. Stone-ham's Braves are due for an uplift. There Go the "Net" Profits. THE British Tennis Association has declared that Helen Wills Bill Tilden. Rene Lacoste and all the other tennis writers will have to drop their literature and confine themselves to tennis during their play in the Wimbledon tourney.

In England they have different ideas about capitalization of amateur reputations and they enforce them. In this country we adapt our theories or exploitation of reputation to necessities of the moment. It's too bad that this discussion is not ended by an international agreement as to what I an amateur and what is capitalizing a reputation. In this country it is the sense of the committee that if the Capitalizer writes his own copy. It is all right to capitalize; but if somebody else doe the writing under the tennis player's signature, that makes him or licr a professional.
