Watson, who is 36 years of age, is a life time resident of the community. He is married and the father of five children. A veteran of World War II, he served with the 35th Infantry Division in Europe.

He attended Ply. mouth high school. He is in his tenth year as a lice officer. He first served for years as deputy sheriff under Harvey Phillips and the remainder of the time he has been a city police officer. He is serving his third year as police chief.

Watson is a member of the LiJons club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Indiana Association Chiefs of Police. McFarland, 65, of 816 Jefferson Rochester, were held in the FosterGood Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Monday. Mr. McFarland, co-owner of the McFarland Nursing Home, died of a heart attack Friday morning. Before moving to Rochester 12 years ago, he had been a resident of Argos.
