The party was held on Dec. 17, 1987, at the Delphian's club house. (Staff photo) Invasive question deserves no answer Dear Abby: My husband and I are both employed by the same large company. Recently we were required to take physical examinations for health insurance.

We were each given a questionnaire to fill out. On the form was a section "for women only." The women were asked: "At what age did you have your first sexual encounter?" (The men were not asked this.) I refused to answer it, and told the examining nurse that I thought it was nobody's business. She insisted it was "scientific and important to complete the report." As a matter of principle, I left that question unanswered, but I suspect the nurse filled it in for me so the questionnaire would be "complete." Abby, would you have answered that question? And of what possible use could that information be in a Abigail VanBuren 06AH ABBY routine health examination? A Private Person, Atlanta Dear Private Person: Congratulations. You are also a thinking person. I would not have answered that question.

It was inappropriate, irrelevant and an invasion of privacy. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to again tell my readers that they are not obligated to answer a question in a questionnaire simply because it is asked. Leave a blank space, or write in "not relevant" to the questions you find an invasion of your privacy. Dear Abby: I am so disgusted I don't know what to do, but I have to tell somebody, so I'm telling you. We had a telephone with a clear- ringing bell for as long as I can remember and I am not young.

The phone gave out and had to be replaced, so I just went to and bought a new one. Well, this phone does not ring. It sounds like a sick turkey! It cannot be heard if the TV is on, and worse yet, it came in a box marked "Manufactured in China." That did it! I will not have anything in my house that is not made in this country. I am taking this phone back I don't care if I have to resort to smoke signals. And another thing, why did they change the bell? I was so accustomed to the old ringing sound.

Lord knows we pay enough for telephone service without having to put up with an instrument that not only is made in China but sounds like asickturkeygobbling. HadEnough Dear Had: You may have had enough but there's more! In order to buy a telephone like the one that gave out, you may have to buy a secondhand instrument. New is not always better. We're lucky these days if what we can get is as good as what gave out. 1988 by Universal Press Syndicate Amy Bethel Occupation: Housewife, artist and caligrapher.

Family: husband: Gary, married for 15 years; children: Whitney, 14 years old and Danielle, 12 years old. Affiliations: a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, a member of the Christian Education Committee, Senior High Youth Leader and secretary of the Saegert Middle School PTA. I'm glad the holidays are over because: I can relax! My most ridiculous New Year's resolution is: to remember to take Danielle to her piano lessons. Nobody knows I'm terrifed of: shots.

The movie I cried the most at was: "It Happened One Christmas." The book I would recommend to my friends is: anything written by Bill Cosby. I would give anything to meet: Ronald Reagan. If I were going to a deserted island for a year, the three things I would have to take are: my husband, a tooth brush and some hand lotion. I really get mad when: people drive nastily! The advice that has benefited me the most is: "Always try to see things from the other person's point of view." My favorite childhood memory is: swimming with my family in Lake McQueeney at our lake house. I stay up late to: be by myself.

I wish I could find out: what everyone thinks I'm supposed to know about MarkWallock! (Courtesy photo) Group performs at second annual Christmas party It was an evening of good fellowship, good food and good singing when the Golden Fellowship of the Church of Christ met for their second annual Christmas party. The food was supplied by the El Apache Restaurant for 38 members and guests, and everyone had a chance to search for door prizes. Louis Fangman was the first to locate all five of the prizes.

Singing was provided by the Walnut Street Quartet. After the meal, the program began with the reading of the birth of Jesus from the gospel of John by John Duncan. The quartet sang several selections, then led the group in singing Christmas carols. Leah Dillingham, aged six, recited the 'Night Before Christmas' aided by her father, Doug Dillingham. A second game, to name all of Santa's reindeer, was won by CharleneBerryman.

Carl Walker conducted the drawing for the remainder of the door prizes, assisted by Travis DilUngham, aged four. The winners were Ann Clark, Mary Duncan and Bobby Jeff coat. Carl and Jesse Walker and Freddie and Ann Rhodes deserve much credit for the success of the party, as they worked to see that everyone had a good time. The Golden Fellowship is a group of people aged 55 and older or who have a spouse over the age of 55 and who attend the Church of Christ on Walnut Street. They meet monthly for a covered dish dinner and games, and are planning many activities for the future.

Gift for baby THE AUXILIARY OF the Guadalupe Valley Hospital always welcomes the first newborn of the year with a special gift. For the first baby of 1988, the gift will be a quilt handmade by auxilian Evelyn Newman (shown). Evelyn's hobby is making baby quilts, which she calls a labor of love for the wee ones. (Staff photo) Tetanus is 100 percent preventable, yet 45 Texans between 1982 and 1986 reportedly acquired this dangerous, and often times deadly, infection, says the Texas Medical Association. Tetanus, also known as lockjaw, is caused by certain bacteria that live in the soil and enter your body through a wound.

Outdoor hazards such as nails and thorns cause the type of puncture wound in which tetanus most commonly thrives. The infection causes your muscles to become stiff and to have extremely painful spasms. Often times the patient suffocates from muscle spasms in the throat and chest. About 40 percent of all tetanus cases result in death. An immunization can protect you from the bacteria, but one immunization during childhood does not protect you for life, reminds the TMA.

Infants are immunized in their first year, and everyone should have a booster shot every 10 years. AND FAMILY WINNERS OF 9 GRAMMY AWARDS (more than any other group!)
