dear sister of How 7 jp.m. Lagermann chemistry in St. Louts Hyrh By HARPER BARNES At the end of a very long afternoon at Kiel Convention Hall yesterday, the Jefferson Airplane came on and surged mightily through an hour and a quarter of San Francisco rock. The sound in the creaky old cavern was muddy, as it tends to be. Extensive research disclosed that the best place to hear the music, and about the only place where you could hear the singers, was standing in the foyer behind entry number four.

Of course, you could not quite see the band from there, but you could see the Airplane's beautiful light show, and you could hear Grace Slick's voice come belting out of that enormous mass of sound With the Airplane, the moment that hits hardest comes when Marty Balin and Gracie are squared off at either end of the stage, each holding a microphone as if it were a weapon, singing against, to and around each other. It is almost a dance, with the rhythem pumping away and Jorma Kaukonen in a Joe Namath slump over his screeching guitar. There were moments like that yesterday and a few hits Rabbit," "Crown of Creation," "We Shall Be but there were too few of both. The Airplane was "on stage for an hour and a quarter of a concert that lasted three hours. billing in the advertisements announced a concert by the Jefferson Airplane, but it turned that there were three other acts to be presented be--fore the Airplane came on.

The audience understandably got restless from time to time. In a way, it was a shame that this reaction resulted from the promoter's failure to identify his product. All the acts the Alvin Pivle and Aardvark rock groups and a folk singer named Danny Cox were good, and the Pivle boys have got a bass E- Pvt. Stephen G. Two St. Louis area persons were killed in separate weekend automobile accidents in Jefferson County, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported. In another accident, a St. Louis man is being held in connection with the death of three persons in Butler County. Miss Patricia Horn, 19 years old, of the 8700 block of Park Crestwood Drive, Crestwood, died at 5:15 p.m.

yesterday of internal injuries at St. Joseph's Hospital, Kirkwood, three hours after a head-on collision on Missouri Highway 30, two miles east of House Springs. Miss Horn's eastbound car was struck by an automobile driven by James Prasuhn, 21, of Cedar Hill. The Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on a curve. The patrol said Prasuhn's car went out of control and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes.

Prasuhn was admitted to St. John's Mercy Hospital. Mark Knox, 18, of Kirkwood, riding with Miss Horn, was admitted to St. Joseph Hospital In Kirkwood. Three other passengers were treated and released.

FOSTER R. LEWIS, 59, of 13840 Clayton Road, Manchester, was dead on arrival at the Kirkwood hospital yesterday, after his northbound auto ran off Missouri Highway 141 north of Route 21 in Jefferson County, striking a mail box, a fence and three trees before coming to a halt. TWO WOMEN and a young girl, representing three generations of a Poplar Bluff family, died Saturday night in a head-on collision six miles east of Poplar Bluff on U.S. Highway 60. The Highway Patrol identified them as Mrs.

Carrie Elizabeth Chaffin, 45, her daughter-in-law, Barbara Jane Chaffin, 19, and the younger woman's daughter, Angela, 2. Mrs. Chaf-fin's daughter, Barbara June, 16, was admitted to Doctor's Hospital in Poplar Bluff for internal injuries. Butler County authorities are holding Mamie E. Binkley, 62, of the 1800 block of South Ninth Street, St.

Louis, on a charge of driving when intoxicated. Manslaughter warrants will be sought also. The sheriff's office said Binkley's eastbound station wagon crossed the center line, colliding with the Chaffins' small foreign car. Ful Oil 233 Robertson. At least the people (there are 2000 in Robertson) around here don't seem to complain about it." Grover Colter, a representative of the HUD regional housing assistance office in Fort Worth, said that the overriding factor in the decision not to allow Turnkey housing in Robertson was "that it was directly in the air traffic pattern of Lambert Field." Colter, who had inspected the site before the rejection was made, said that by the criteria of the Federal Aeronautics Administration, the Robertson area was in noise level Zones 2 and 3. "Our regulations say that when a site is within three miles of a jet airport, it must be surveyed to see what zone it is in; a Zone 3 reading is unacceptable," Colter said. He said also that the possible FROM PAGE ONE been approved temporarily by HUD for Turnkey construction. James said that the decision not to allow a Turnkey in Robertson conflicted with what was brought out at the recent hearing conducted here by the United States Civil Rights Commission.

He noted that McDonnell Douglas officers were told after the hearing to increase the availability of nondiscriminatory housing for the firm's employes. A Turnkey project in Robertson, which is less than one mile northwest from some McDonnell Douglas plants, between Bridgeton and Hazel wood, would fill that need, he continued. The rejection, he said, struck him as inconsistent with the policy of other federal agencies to encourage minority and low income housing near industrial locations. Mrs. Georgia Rusan, county co-ordinator for the St. Louis Human Development Corporation in the Robertson area, said that the Government should do something about aircraft noise so that it would not be a factor in the dispute. Colter said that HUD had contracted with a California laboratory to do research on the question, but that results had not yet been furnished to the agency.

James said that the residents were taking steps to prevent a take-over of their land by industry. He said that 75 per cent of the residents owned their homes "and there is great community spirit here." IRREGULARS DUE TO LACK OF FOOD Mattlngly Estill D.
