Deppe, an insurance broker for 60 years in St. Louis, died Monday Gan. 29, 1996) of pneumonia at DePaul Health Center in Bridge-ton. He was 87 and lived in Chesterfield. Mr.

Deppe, formerly of Frontenac, was a broker with several companies here before he retired in 1984 as an independent insurance broker. Mr. Deppe was born and reared in St. Louis. He attended the University of Cincinnati.

The funeral service and burial will be private. Among survivors are his wife, Ruby M. Deppe; a sister, Helen Vollmar of Ladue; and a brother, Edward Deppe of Kirkwood. his degree about 1931 at the Chicago Theological Seminary. He later lived for FUNERAL NOTICES KLEIN, JAMES Suddenly, on Jan.

Dr. 0. Walter Wagner, former director of the Metropolitan Church Federation here, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 1996) of infirmities in La Verne, Calif. He was 92.

From 1950 to 1969, The Rev. Dr. Wagner served as director of the old Metropolitan Church Federation of Greater St. Louis. The group helped foster understanding and cooperation between religious and ethnic groups.

In the late 1950s and the 1960s, the Rev. Dr. Wagner promoted integration, lobbying groups to avoid white-only hotels and restaurants. The Rev. Dr.

Wagner was ordained in 1930 in the Evangelical and Reformed Church by his father and spent 60 years as a minister. He spent 20 years as a pastor for congregations of the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Gary, Lou-denville, Ohio; and Jackson, Mich. He spent 20 years as an interim pastor in various churches here and in California. He moved to California in 1977. The Rev.

Dr. Wagner was a native of Bensonville, 111. He received his bachelor's degree in sociology in 1928 from Elmhurst College in Illinois and later attended Eden Theological Seminary here. He completed years in Webster Groves. The Rev.

Dr. Wagner received the St. Louis Civic Award, the interracial award from Alpha Kappa Alpha, the Democracy in Action award from the American Jewish Congress, the Man of the Year award from the Maryville University Catholic Community, and the Outstanding Ecumenical Leader Award from the Inter-Faith Seminar of St. Louis. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m.

Saturday at the Hillcrest Home in LaVerne. Burial will be at Peace Cemetery in Bensonville. Among the survivors are his wife, Juanita Zeller Wagner of LaVerne; three sons, David Wagner and Thomas Wagner, both of Philadelphia, and Jonathon Wagner of St. Louis; a sister, Helen Madole of Fox Lake, seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heifer Project International, Church of the Brethren, 2425 Street, LaVerne, 91750.

0240 Funeral Directors Akira Takayama, an economics professor at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, died Jan. 2, 1996, at Barnes Hospital after suffering from lymphoma. He was 63. Professor Takayama, of Carbon-dale, had held the Vandeveer Professorship since 1983 at SlU-Carbon-dale. He had been an economics professor at other universities since the early 1960s.

He was born in Yokohama, Japan; and earned his bachelor's degree in economics at the International Christian University in Tokyo. Professor Takayama received a doctorate in economics at the University of Rochester in New York and a second doctorate from Hitotsubahi University in Tokyo. shared the Daeyang Prize in Korea with one of his students for his work in economics. A private funeral service was held Jan. 4 at the Barnes Hospital chapel.

Sunday on New Haven Court in the Cochran Gardens public housing complex. He died Monday morning Gan. 29, 1996). St. Louis homicide detectives are not certain why the shooting happened and have not made an arrest.

Mr. Buchanan lived with his parents, Beacher Sr. and Alicia Buchanan, in the 4000 block of Barrington Court in north St. Louis County, He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Tyra Letelia Buchanan and Ashley Renee Buchanan, both of St. Louis; grandparents, a great-grandmother and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Buchanan wanted to earn a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He was considering attending either St. Louis University, Washington University, the University of Missouri at Rolla or the General Motors Institute School of Engineering in Michigan. At Hazelwood Central, Mr.
