8D October 2, 1930 ST.LDUIS POST-DISPATCH BL turn DEATHS Funeral For Tom Thomas; Retired Head Waiter Here Funeral services for Tom Thomas, a retired head waiter who worked at several well-known restaurants Nicholas Greek Orthodox here, were held today at St. Church, 4967 Forest Park Matthew Cemetery. Mr. Thomas, 89, died Tuesday at Mar-Le Nursing nome in wemzvuie. Born in Trtpolis, Greece, he came to St.

Louis in 1920. A musician, composer and actor, he performed in the Municipal Opera in the 1920s. He worked at Garavelll, Chase-Park Plaza and Ruggeri restaurants, among others, before retiring aDout is years ago. Surviving are five daughters, Dorothy Lyster of Woodland Hills, and Alvina Williams and Ourania Stock, all of St. Louis.

Bud Schwenk Dies; Was Football Star Wilson R. "Bud" Schwenk, executive vice president of the Junior Achievement of Mississippi Valley Inc. and a record-setting football player for Washington University who later played professional football, died Wednesday at Missouri Baptist Hospital, 3015 North Ballas Road, West St. Louis County, of lung cancer. He was 63 years old.

Mr. Schwenk has served with the Junior Achievement organization for 30 years and was named outstanding area director in the nation in 1967-68. He was graduated from Beaumont High School in 1937, where he earned athletic letters in football, baseball, basketball, and track. He was graduated from Washington University in 1941, where he set records as a quarterback for the most total yardage, most completed passes in one game and the greatest percentage of team yardage gained by an individual. He played professionally for the old Chicago Cardinals, and with the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Colts, and the old New York Yankees.

Mr. Schwenk served as the captain of a PT boat during World War II. He was discharged from the Navy as a Wilson Schwenk Avenue. Burial was in St. Joan Tllley, Helen Furry, Republican candidate for committeeman from the Candidate For City Sfieriff Suffers Heart Attack Charles K.

Laber, 41, the St. Louis sheriff, suffered a heart attack Tuesday and is reported in stable condition in the cardiac Intensive care unit of Incarnate Word Hospital, 3545 Lafayette "BUD" SCHWENK: A record-breaker at Washington U. Page 4D lieutenant. He lived in Florissant. Surviving are his wife, Marniece; two daughters, Kimberly Meyer of Schenectady, N.Y., and Terry Jones of Florissant; a son, Steven of Memphis, his mother, Madge of Florissant; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at White-Mullen Chapel, 118 North Florissant Road, Ferguson. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum, Interstate 70 at Lucas Hunt Road, Jennings. Avenue. Laber is in his third campaign for sheriff.
