1, 1 4 A Tues., May 5. 1953 BELLEVILLE JET FLYER KILLED IN TEXAS CRASH ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH First Lt. Edward C. Hotz Jr. of Belleville was killed today when bis jet plane crashed near Sher-jnan, Tex. Hotz, stationed at Perrin Air Force Base in Texas, was on a routine flying mission when his plane crashed.'. He entered the United iiMliii..tlMW& States Naval Academy and was commli sioned in 1950. During hit school days he played football and took part in wrestling and track. His basic flying training was taken a t Lti Et Ci Hotx jr. Perrin Air Force Base and he received the silver Nvings of a jet fighter pilot at Williams Air Force Base at Chandler, Ariz. Hotz, 26 years old, served as jet pilot in Korea for more than a year, returning to the United States last November. In Korea hp flow 118 missions, chiefly di rected against Communist ammu nition depots. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; a 7-month-old son, Edward C. Hotz III; his parents, who live at O'Fallon, 111., and two sisters. His father Is deputy county clerk of St Clair county. The area is reported to have received five feet of wet snow. Deadwood measured 43 inches of snow. The Lawrence County Highway Department was attempting to reach Tinton, which has 25 residents. It was reported the community had tmple food to wait out arrival of the plows and there had been no emergency sick calls from the area. Authorities said a. arsenal of pistols and carbines was seized aftpr the arrest of two men charged with placing a bomb in Foreign Minister jeronimo nemo-rino's automobile Saturday night. Vfnrpntp Centurion, a member of the Radical party, and Patricio Cullen, a Socialist, were cnargca with the attempted bombing. Police also arrested Jorge Fir-mat and Juan Maria Elizalde, both doctors, in connection with the incident. Officers said a quantity of arms was found In Firmat's home. Elizalde' is high in the Conservative party. Police said the arrest of Centurion and Cullen had broken up an organization which placed a bomb in the cloakroom of the main railway station here when Phesident Peron returned from Chile in March. JEFFERSON CITY, May 5 Approval by the Missouri Public Service Commission of a substandard clearance between relocated tracks of the Missouri Pa cific RaHroad Co. and the south approach to MacArthur bridge Jn St. Louis the result of an error was sought by the company today. The company application attributed the situation to an error in records of the City of St. Louts, which resulted in a clearance between the rails and the bridge approach varying from 19.7 feet to 20.5 feet, instead of the expected differences of 22.2 feet to 23.03 feet. State law requires a track clearance of 22 feet, subject to authority of the commission to approve exceptions. The Commission was asked to approve the less than standard clearance on the ground that it was impracticable to make a change, and that no "unnecessary hazard" would be created. NEW YORK, May 5 Nineteen egg dealers and two Agriculture Department inspectors were indicted by a federal grand jury yesterday on conspiracy charges involving hundreds of thousands of dollars in upgraded eggs. The indictment charges the inspectors took bribes from the dealers either not to Inspect the eggs or to approve them as Grade A when they were in fact in ferior.
