This means a saving of seven to 24 hours' time when speed in getting pictures on the air is desirable. The first newsreels developed with this new KSD-TV equipment were those of Bernard M. Baruch speaking at the Washington University commencement Tuesday and of Prime Minister St.

Laurent of Canada delivering his address at the St. Louis University graduation exercises. These films were telecast the same afternoon. In the past, it has been necessary to send newsreels and films to Chicago to be developed, and this usually has entailed a delay of 18 to 24 hours. The only way to speed-up the processing of newsreels was to send them to Chicago and back on the Post-Dispatch-KSD plane.

This not only was costly, but only reduced the delay to 10 to 12 hours. The swifest processing of a rewreel for telecasting by KSD-TV in the past was of the film of the funeral of Robert E. Hanne-gan in the Cathedral at Lindell and Newstead avenue. If the present KSD-TV developing setup had been in operation then, that newsreel could have been telecast several hours earlier.
