HOUSE AT 47 PORTLAND PL BOUGHT BY NELSON B. GATCH The residence at 47 Portland place, owned by the Davis estate, has been purchased by Nelson B. Gatch, a partner of the firm of Gatch Jordan and McKinney, through Mary Potter Love, Inc. The Davis estate is composed of Samuel C. Davis, John T.

Davis and Dwight Davis. The house until recently was occupied by John T. Davis. It is a beautiful Colonial residence with spacious entrance hall and broad winding stairway. The first floor includes panelled library, dining room and reception room.

Establishment of seven new companies and expansions by 10 companies were reported for the St. Louis industrial district during February, it was stated in the monthly report of the Industrial Bureau of the Chamber of Commerce issued yesterday.

JThe principal barometers of St. Louis business for February, 1936, compared with February of the previous year, were summarized in the report as follows: Building permits decreased 25.82 per cent; debits to individual accounts increased 19.93 per cent; bank clearings increased 15.88 per cent; post office receipts increased 5.45 per cent; local telephone calls increased 20.42 per cent; industrial electricity supplied by the Union Electric Light Power Co. to 197 identical customers increased 7.31 per cent, and industrial electricity supplied by the Laclede Power Light Co.

increased 2.47 per cent; water consumption increased 48.25 per cent; industrial gas consumption increased 13.5 per cent; revenue street car and bus passengers increased 14.97 per cent on the lines of the St. Louis Public Service Co. and the People's Motorbus Co. combined; value of milk production increased 11.16 per cent; revenue cars handled by the Terminal Railroad Association increased 23.67. per cent.
