A bullet wound suffered 11 years ago as the result of a prank caused the death June 21 of Carl Shepard, 915 Winstanley avenue, East St. Louis, it was disclosed yesterday with the filing of a burial permit. He was 35 years old. Returning from a fishing trip late one night in 1926, Shepard crept to a window in his home through which he could see his brother, Earl Shepard, and made a noise intending to startle him. Mistaking him for a burglar, Earl fired a pistol shot through the window.
