Ostrander, the missing partner of the dissolved firm Goulds Ostiander, has not been traced and r.o clue can be gathered by the Sheiifi's officers in search of him under the attachment writ. It is discovered that the money deposited in Mrs. Ostrander's name at the Bank of Commerce has been drawn out siiid the family appear to have left the city. A Frightful Accident. Charles Mueller who, lives in Carondelet and is a driver for the Carondelet Express Company, delivered some goods to Dodd, Brown this morning, and then went and loosed over into the elevator well.

Mr. Kitchener warned him away three times, but the place seemed to have some fascination for him. The elevator at last came down and caught his head between its floor and the gate. Had the latter not broken he would nave been killed at once. As it was, his scalo was cut from ear to ear and torn half off his head; a three-inch cut was made across his forehead, and his throat at the chin was torn open so as toexoose the wind-pipe, the tongue and the base ot the lower jaw.

Capt. J. K. Kidd, ex-member of the Republican State Central Committee, was arrested and brought before the United States Commissioner here to-day, charged with collecting illegal ees for securing pensions. He is also Post master at Kidd Ridge, Osage county, and it was'proven that as such he opened a pension letter, took the draft, forged the name and drew the money, and withheld about one-fourth.

Woodstock, N. Thought to be Totally Destroyed. St. John, N. November 11.

Fire broke out in Woodstock at midnight. It caught in the Institute building, and Is supposed to be the work of an incendiary. A high wind was prevailing and all efforts to stop the progress of the flames were unavailing. The Wastern Union Telegraph offices, both in the depot and the regular offices were destroyed, and it is Im possible to get particulars. At clock an operator in the depot office told the operator at St.

John: "The flames are coming down on me and I must A few minutes after the circuit was discovered open, and presumably the State building has gone. Fatal Explosion. Acrora, November 11. A terrific ex plosion which shook the foundations of the town occurred a little before midnight, caused by the blowing-up of a still in Gaff's distillery. The building took fire and 100 feet of its east end was destroyed. Billy owier, sleeping in the building, is known to be killed.
